Well, my friends, apparently I don’t totally stink on camera because I was invited back for the 6th (what??!) time to share a craft live on the air on the Portland based AM Northwest show! This time it was to share my chalkboard leaf napkin rings.
I’ll never forget that dress…It was gold and white lamé checked with a black velvet bodice. The perfect 1987 homecoming dress. The black velvet bow I found for my hair was the icing on the cake.
Lamé…do they even make dresses in lamé anymore…. because they should! The subtle (or not so subtle) sheen picked up the pulsating lights on the dance floor perfectly.
There is nowhere quite as important to a teenage girl as the mall. Not only is it the place to see and be seen, but it’s also where all of one’s fashion dreams can come true. In my day, Wet Seal was THE store. I just knew that if I could get my clothes there then any awkwardness I was facing in those tenuous years would instantly fade away.
I would walk through the door and I would be overwhelmed by the utter stylishness of it all. From stirrup pants to acid washed jeans with zippered ankles and cut off sweatshirts. It was all I could do to stay focused.
Cue my mom.
My husband and I have recently discovered the miracle that is Netflix. Yes, we are slow to integrate new things into our home. Don’t judge. So far we have finished the first season of Blacklist (the 2nd season just premiered!!!) and last week we finished watching the first season of 24.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I really wanted to throw a pillow across the room when we finally made it to the last episode of 24. If you haven’t watched it just know that if you feel like throwing a pillow across the room you wouldn’t be the only one. 😉
Sometimes I think I suffer from short-term memory loss.
Correction…sometimes I think I suffer from short-term ‘thankfulness’ memory loss.
Can you BELIEVE it’s November already!? The month literally blew into the south, with windy nights and falling leaves!
This is totally a 5 minute craft. I mean, for YOU, I’m quite certain this is a 5 minute craft.
For ME, on the other hand, this was one of those ‘let’s take something super simple and make it totally more complicated than it has to be’ kind of crafts.
But, I promise, in reality this is, in fact, a five minute craft. Okay, maybe 10 minutes, but still, in theory this should be an easy peasy project.
We have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. On the one hand, we love all of the ideas and inspiration we find there. On the other hand, we hate all of the ideas and inspiration we find there. 😉
It can be so overhwelming! Especially when you see a grouping of ideas with titles like…
“100 Ways to Decorate with an Empty Toilet Paper Roll”
“75 Ways to Repurpose a Tampon Box”
“50 Dinner Ideas (you hope and pray!) You’re Kids Will Love”
Because, you see, at the end of the day, we might be able to handle 1 or 2 ways to decorate with an empty toilet paper roll or repurpose a tampon box (you never know!) or hope and pray for something new our kids will actually like to eat. But when we see those LARGE numbers it frankly makes us want to run the other way!
So, we thought that maybe, just maybe, we weren’t the only ones getting a tad overwhelmed. And while it was very tempting to put together the biggest collection of fun and fabulous pumpkin ideas that has ever been or will ever be created, we decided instead to just offer you 5.
Five Fun and Fabulous Pumpkin Ideas
Like this Book Page Pumpkin
And this Feathered Owl Pumpkin.
How about these White and Gold Decoupage Pumpkins.
And this Pumpkin Clock that even Cinderella would approve of. 😉
And last but not least a pumpkin for those of us needing a little more bling in our lives!
So, what do you think? Is 5 a good number?
Not too many to feel overwhelmed but not too few to feel…well..underwhelmed?
Because, let’s face it, while we might feel that momentary thrill when we see the words “1,000 Things You Can Put in a Mason Jar”, somewhere between seeing those words and actually DOING even one out of the 1,000, real life tends to happen.
Like homework and basketball practice and chin hairs and making dinners which you hope and pray everyone will eat without asking “how many more bites?”.
So, we’re making a vow to you now that we will do our best to not contribute to the condition commonly known as “Pinterest anxiety”.
But, we can’t guarantee that one of these days we might not just come up with the most amazing tampon box repurposing project you’ve ever seen! 😉
Happy Fall sweet friends!
My house looks better in the Fall. It just does.
It’s like it’s been patient all year just waiting for this time.
For the flip-flops to be replaced with socks and slippers. For the mulled cider candle to have it’s inaugural lighting. For me to step out on the front porch in the early morning hours and feel that chill in the air while the steam rises from my hot cup of coffee. For evenings filled with running through the sprinklers and watching fireworks in the sky to be replaced by foot-y jammies and watching the glow of logs in the fireplace.
*We apologize for the technical difficulties we experienced yesterday that caused our site to be down but thank you for bearing with us and we hope you enjoy this post today*
Hello and welcome friends!! I’m so thrilled that you are joining me on a little tour of my home today all dressed up for my most favorite season. Here in Oregon (did you know that I live in Oregon?) there are signs of Autumn popping up all around me even though as I type this the temperature today will be in the 80’s. Yes, Oregon gets sunshine. It’s our best kept secret!
