Bandana Rosette 4th of July Shirt

I have to be completely honest with you.

Technically this is supposed to be a 5 Minute Craft. And it totally would have been.

Except I received an invitation to a tea party from a little girl who was trying to teach manners to her brother who was pretending to be a cheetah.

I don’t ask questions. I just GO! Wouldn’t you?

But, if you didn’t have to attend a tea party with a cheetah who kept being reprimanded for burping out loud and not holding up his pinkie finger/paw when sipping from his tea cup then this would TOTALLY qualify as a 5 minute craft!

I absolutely love the 4th of July! The fireworks, the food, the family, the food, the friends, the music, the food.

And once I became the mom of a little girl I added one more thing to the list…cute 4th of July outfits!

Of course, I hate to spend the money on them though especially if they are soooo 4th of July specific you know?

Like the ones that say “Happy 4th of July 2014!” No way you’re going to be able to get away with that one next year!

That’s why I love cute ideas like these. They’re inexpensive, easy to make and can be worn all summer long.

To make the rosettes, simply cut long strips of the bandana fabric approximately 2 inches in width. These rosettes need to be on the smaller size since this is a child’s shirt but you could make them bigger if doing this for an adult.

1) Tie a loose knot at the top of the strip.

2) Tuck the ends of the fabric into the knot.

3) Pull long end up and over the knot and then begin wrapping it around the knot forming a petal by twisting and wrapping, twisting and wrapping, etc.

4) Once you’re done and feeling quite certain that if there were ever a rosette shortage you could rise to the occasion and avert disaster with your new-found rosette making skills, tuck in the end of the fabric and secure with hot glue.

5) Then using hot glue again, attach rosettes to the front of the shirt.

6) Ask the tea party hostess to please, please, pretty please with sugar on top let you take her picture wearing the bandana rosette 4th of July shirt!

7) Return to the tea party where you and the cheetah will continue to be given instructions in proper tea etiquette which will include those well known rules such as…

Never, ever reach for the pretend piece of chocolate cake when the hostess offers you refreshments. You should know that it is her favorite and you will be relegated to eating the pretend broccoli instead.

10 spoonfuls of sugar in your tea is the absolute minimum. Your tea can never be too sweet according to this particular hostess.

If the cheetah toots and it smells really badly, you may want to run from the room desperate for air but you will be strictly forbidden from leaving the tea party.

And perhaps the most important rule of all…

Do not, I repeat DO NOT, offer your own rules in an attempt to help the hostess. This is expressly forbidden as it doesn’t fit with the ‘script’ which you had no idea existed in the first place.

Now, don’t you feel like you got a bonus today? A two-fer? Not only did you learn how to make a bandana rosette shirt for 4th of July, should you ever find yourself at a tea party with a little girl and a ‘cheetah’ you will know exactly how to behave.

You’re welcome! 😉

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress

to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about

The welfare of pets like dogs and cats is the primary concern of most
pet owners as they treat them like their family members.

None of their friends were ever invited in to
John and Mc – Cracken’s house. Also, be sure to have your computer’s antivirus and anti-malware software up to date and that your passwords are complicated enough to never be guessed
from a hacker, while being easy for you to remember.

Matthew 7:13-14 says, “Enter through the narrow Matthew 7:13-14 says, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.”.
.
When I was a little girl we took a trip to Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson, MO. One of the attractions there is the Marvel Cave. The whole theme park was actually built right around the cave! I will never forget the feeling of descending into the darkness. We had to walk down a steep, narrow path and I could feel the rocky walls beginning to close in on me. From time to time, our guide would even have to call out for us to duck our heads so as not to whack them on rocks that were jutting out. And just when it felt like we had been walking forever; just when it felt the most narrow and the most dark; just when we were starting to get really weary from navigating this path, we turned the corner and found ourselves awestruck as we gazed at this enormous room. Everywhere we looked there were stalactites and stalagmites. Lights had been installed and they reflected off of these formations creating the most beautiful colors on the walls. There were pools of water in a shade of aquamarine I had never seen before and waterfalls flowing from upper levels. That long, winding, damp trek had been so very worth it. The descent into darkness had revealed light…and life!

My prayer for you friends, is that you will look at that narrow path with the small gate as an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to experience the kind of freedom that our souls are longing for. The wide and broad path of the world promises us a freedom that is fleeting and temporary. But at the end of the narrow path, there is hope and peace and life everlasting.

I’m choosing the narrow path. And in spite of the hardships, in spite of the challenges and the fears and the times that can feel as dark as the journey down into a cave, I wouldn’t trade a single minute of it.

After a weeklong vacation, we all feel so happy to be back in our haven. As a homemaker in the truest sense of the word (the maker of a home), knowing my husband and children consider this the place where they feel the most relaxed and at peace means all of my intentions and efforts in this area are worthwhile. It’s not perfect and WE are not perfect by a long stretch. But, it’s where we feel the most free to be imperfect. And that makes it pretty wonderful! 🌱

When I started blogging, he was only 6 years old and some of you have been apart of my community here for that entire time. Now, he's 19 and there is a reason parents are told not to blink because the years truly do go faster than I ever could have imagined. He has become such an incredible young man we are so excited to see how God is going to unfold the next chapter of his life. We celebrated with parties galore (SO many open houses to attend!) and made memories we'll forever cherish. My mama heart was filled to bursting with the joy of it all! Now we're taking some time to just enjoy these warm, summer days making even more memories because, when you’re at this stage of parenting, you know all too well how much you need to grasp every opportunity to spend time together.

I hope your summer is off to a great start too dear friends! 🪴
