I’ll have a Blue Christmas Tree…

I remember the first time I heard it.  I was a little girl and my mother was playing her favorite Christmas songs. That sultry smooth, deep voice.

“I’ll have a blue Christmas without you…”

My mother smiled and told me how she saw him in black and white many, many years ago on the Ed Sullivan show.  She sighed at the sight of him and her father teased her mercilessly and danced around with a broom saying, “Oh Elvis, Elvis….”

I'll Have A Blue Christmas

Whenever I hear that song now I picture my mom. a young teenage girl sitting on the floor in front of a black and white TV, sighing over a handsome dark haired man that would go on to change the world of music.  I wonder if he knew we’d still be listening to “Blue Christmas”  all of these years later.

This year, at our house, we are most definitely experiencing a “Blue Christmas” but not the sad, soulful kind…more the pretty cobalt kind!

and my blue, gold and white Christmas tree makes me sigh a little every time I walk past it! I’ve always wanted a towering Christmas tree but never had the ceilings to accommodate one….until now!  So, when Balsam Hill asked me if I’d like to have one of their trees, as part of the 12 Bloggers of Christmas, I jumped on the chance to finally have a spectacular Christmas tree!

I'll Have a Blue Christmas Tree

When my Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval Vermont White Spruce arrived on my doorstep, my face lit up like…well…a Christmas tree!  I couldn’t wait to get this beauty up! I was so impressed with Balsam Hill’s attention to detail. From the nice storage bags, to the gloves for fluffing the tree, to the detailed instruction manual, it couldn’t have been easier to put my tree together!

I'll Have a Blue Christmas

My mom happened to be here visiting, so we each donned a pair of gloves and got to fluffing! I think we both gasped a little when we felt the branches of the tree.  They felt so real! That’s Balsam Hill’s “true needle” technology, except these needles won’t fall off and need vacuuming every other day!  I swear I expected to smell the sent of evergreen coming from them.  Once the tree was plugged up, it was a matter of hitting the On/Off foot pedestal and standing back to admire her all aglow!

I'll Have a Blue Christmas Tree

I know our family will enjoy our beautiful new tree for many, many years! In fact I’m sitting next my blue christmas tree while I type this.  Enjoying it’s lights, drinking some coffee and there might even be a little Elvis playing in the background….

” a blue, blue, blue Christmas….”

I'll Have a Blue Christmas Tree

Today the talented Jennifer Rizzo is sharing her beautiful Balsam Hill tree as well, be sure to head over there to see it!

Your artificial tree could smell like a fresh tree if you ordered some “Scentsicles” from http://www.amazon.com. I put them on my artificial tree this year and my husband asked me why I decided to buy a real tree this year! They are wonderful and truly add the scent of Christmas to your home.

I love your balsam hill tree and I am considering buying one for next year. I am curious as to the girth of the tree that you purchased. Is the girth about 55 inches or so? Most of their trees have a very large girth measurement and I am not wanting to purchase one that is too large for my space. Would you be so kind to help me with your input?
    It would be much appreciated!
    Thank you!

Happy weekend!! My limelight’s are finally bloom Happy weekend!! My limelight’s are finally blooming and I try really hard to not play favorites among the flowers in my garden but these beauties have my heart and bring me so much joy.

What’s bringing you joy today dear friends?
I can’t properly express how much joy it gives m I can’t properly express how much joy it gives me to know that my family loves being home. After a weeklong vacation, we all feel so happy to be back in our haven. As a homemaker in the truest sense of the word (the maker of a home), knowing my husband and children consider this the place where they feel the most relaxed and at peace means all of my intentions and efforts in this area are worthwhile. It’s not perfect and WE are not perfect by a long stretch. But, it’s where we feel the most free to be imperfect. And that makes it pretty wonderful! 🌱

Extreme rain and cooler temperatures followed by extreme heat then back to cloudy and rainy. But the silver lining is that when the sun finally does reappear we definitely don’t take it for granted. I’m working on a blog post to share all of the details of our family room shelving makeover but I’m super impatient and just had to give you all a sneak peek!! We are SO happy with how they turned out and it finally looks like I’ve always envisioned. Our quick fix years ago (scroll to see the before photo) never felt quite right but now? Soooo much better!! 🙌🏻 Big shoutout to our amazingly talented friend Matt @redemptive_woodworx for bringing our vision to life and doing such impeccable work.

I hope you all have a great start to the 4th of July weekend and make sure to check my stories later for Friday Funnies!

When I started blogging, he was only 6 years old and some of you have been apart of my community here for that entire time. Now, he's 19 and there is a reason parents are told not to blink because the years truly do go faster than I ever could have imagined. He has become such an incredible young man we are so excited to see how God is going to unfold the next chapter of his life. We celebrated with parties galore (SO many open houses to attend!) and made memories we'll forever cherish. My mama heart was filled to bursting with the joy of it all! Now we're taking some time to just enjoy these warm, summer days making even more memories because, when you’re at this stage of parenting, you know all too well how much you need to grasp every opportunity to spend time together.

I hope your summer is off to a great start too dear friends! 🪴

Happy first day of summer dear friends!! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I posted something new here but life has been crazy. I’ll have some new photos of house projects and life events to share with you soon but, got now, I’m just going to enjoy this gorgeous first day of summer after our ridiculously long, wet spring. ☀️
