Decadent Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bark

Decadent Valentines Day Chocolate Bark from At The Picket Fence

chocolate quote

Decadent Valentine's Day Chocolate Bark from At The Picket Fence

What is it about CHOCOLATE that speaks to the soul?  It calls us with it’s siren song…to open that bright red heart and bite into those little squares of goodness.  We know our favorites and savor those first, but eventually they will all be consumed down to the last coconut filled truffle.

Or..how about the call to the pantry, where in desperation we dig out the half used bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and chase away our blues with handfuls of morsels and a few episodes of The Bachelor or Desperate Housewives…oh wait you don’t do that?

Then there’s the good stuff.  You know…the good stuff. The chocolate that is wrapped like a present and costs as much as an ounce of gold.  The kind you let melt in your mouth and hide from the kids.

Chocolate.  There’s a reason why it’s associated with Valentine’s Day.  It’s romantic and sexy. Delicious and decadent.  My Decadent Chocolate Bark is a perfect treat for this special day of love! Layers of semi-sweet chocolate, salty sunflower seeds and tart cranberries topped with smooth white chocolate.

A great treat to share with those you love!

Hi Sheila, It’s a font from the signature software we used. I’ll try and find the website and post it for you. 🙂 I know PicMonkey has some fonts that are similar.

Hi Jeanette, it’s a specialty salt similar to course sea salt. I purchased mine at HomeGoods but TJMaxx would probably carry it as well. Also you might find it in a gourmet grocery like Whole Foods or Trader Joes. It essentially just “pink salt” so even sea salt could be used if necessary. 🙂

I’ve tried to find the candy coated sunflower seeds (in the Valentines colors, of course) with no luck so far – could you recommend a substitute? Hobby Lobby didn’t have them in my area, but am going to try Whole Foods. I found them at a “candy” speciality store but NOT in the Valentines colors 🙁 Thanks!

Looks delish, but I am going to have to cut out all that “good” stuff and I’ll go to Russell Stover and pick up what I give, but all that can have it–enjoy.

Happy weekend!! My limelight’s are finally bloom Happy weekend!! My limelight’s are finally blooming and I try really hard to not play favorites among the flowers in my garden but these beauties have my heart and bring me so much joy.

After a weeklong vacation, we all feel so happy to be back in our haven. As a homemaker in the truest sense of the word (the maker of a home), knowing my husband and children consider this the place where they feel the most relaxed and at peace means all of my intentions and efforts in this area are worthwhile. It’s not perfect and WE are not perfect by a long stretch. But, it’s where we feel the most free to be imperfect. And that makes it pretty wonderful! 🌱

I’m working on a blog post to share all of the details of our family room shelving makeover but I’m super impatient and just had to give you all a sneak peek!! Soooo much better!! 🙌🏻 Big shoutout to our amazingly talented friend Matt @redemptive_woodworx for bringing our vision to life and doing such impeccable work.

When I started blogging, he was only 6 years old and some of you have been apart of my community here for that entire time. Now, he's 19 and there is a reason parents are told not to blink because the years truly do go faster than I ever could have imagined. He has become such an incredible young man we are so excited to see how God is going to unfold the next chapter of his life. We celebrated with parties galore (SO many open houses to attend!) and made memories we'll forever cherish. My mama heart was filled to bursting with the joy of it all! Now we're taking some time to just enjoy these warm, summer days making even more memories because, when you’re at this stage of parenting, you know all too well how much you need to grasp every opportunity to spend time together.

I hope your summer is off to a great start too dear friends! 🪴

I’ll have some new photos of house projects and life events to share with you soon but, got now, I’m just going to enjoy this gorgeous first day of summer after our ridiculously long, wet spring. ☀️
