Today I’m showing you how to make framed fabric wall art for inexpensive and custom art!
It seems like it’s been an eternity. No really…an eternity, okay well actually it’s been 393 long days. 393 days of no house projects, crafts or decorating. 393 days of passing seasons and cute new product lines and I watched them all slowly pass. Do you know how hard it is for a DIYer to sit twiddling her creative thumbs while she watches all of her amazing and talented friends crafting, and remodeling and designing…it’s torture I tell ya!
So, I’m so excited to get to work in my new house doing what I love to do best…with shopping coming in at a close second!
It’s scary having so many stores available to me…literally two of everything including Target! Have you SEEN Target’s Threshold lines?! I’m in LURVE!!
I saw these super cute Threshold Spoon Kitchen Towels and knew I had to have them, but once I got them home I just couldn’t bring myself to dry my dishes with them…they deserved more of a place of honor than that. A place like my wall!
If you’ve ever purchased art, you know how expensive it can be! But creating your own framed fabric wall art is an easy, inexpensive and custom solution! It’s a fun and quick way to add color to any space, and if you are trying to brighten up a neutral area a great way to add pop to plain walls.
Here’s how to make frame fabric wall art with any fabric you choose…even kitchen towels!
Supplies:
Fabric of choice
Poster frames (purchased at WalMart $8.99 each)
Iron and Ironing Board
Spray paint in color of choice
Krylon Easy-Tack Repositionable Adhesive Spray
Directions For Framed Fabric Wall Art:
Carefully remove cardboard backing and acrylic “glass” from frames. Spray several light coats of paint onto frames, being sure to get all of the inside edges of frame. Carefully iron fabric so there are no creases or wrinkles in fabric. Lightly spray adhesive spray on cardboard backing and lay fabric in the middle smoothing out all wrinkles from the center out. Wrap excess fabric around edges and cut off any excess. Place acrylic and fabric covered cardboard back into frame. Hang where desired!
I have so many fun ideas in the works for the new house…are you as excited as I am!? 😉

Ok this is so cute and easy. My type of project! It was lovely to meet you ladies in person at Haven. We had the best time and looking forward to next year! Have a great rest of the week. Cheers!
Those towels are really cute, Heather! Perfect to make some wall art for the kitchen, too.
Very cute, Heather!! I’ve seen wall art done with shower curtains too. I love turning things in to something other than what they were meant for! Happy decorating!!
Oh Heather…I’m so happy to see you getting your craft on again! Love these towels and the wall art. I made something similar for my daughter’s bedroom. So fun and colorful!
Heather…I have framed fabric before, but never thought to frame dish towels…great idea!!….I love the colors and patterns…So happy that you are getting to finally do what you love!
Love those kitchen towels – they look awesome on the wall and, I agree, are way too nice to use to dry dishes.
Framing fabric is so fast and easy and smart! I love the colors and prints you chose and how you grouped them into a wall gallery! Looks great! Thank for the shout out too!
HEATHER! Welcome back! So good to see you 🙂 And I must say you look fabulous – and so does your project. You haven’t lost your touch!
I think my favorite wall art I’ve done is pics of my kids in vintage frames. I have a several of them. I have a great place local that does custom framing at very reasonable prices and they don’t mind me bringing my rickety, chippy vintage frames to them to use!
Heather,
Seriously? Sooooo cute! I love everything Threshold (including that soap dispenser)!!!!
Happy day to you sweet friend!
