Let’s get this holiday season started…

There’s nothing like a Holiday Brunch to get you in the mood for the holidays!
DSC_0576_edited-1
I was so honored when my sweet “mom-in-love” invited me to host a table at her church’s Women’s Holiday Brunch! Of course this type of thing is right up my alley since it involves decorating, and pretty table settings, and creativity but I also love the opportunity to meet amazing, fabulous women and to practice the fine (but often lost) art of socializing over a meal.
As soon as the invitation was made, my creative juices started flowing. This is where Pinterest comes in handy! I had so much fun browsing and bookmarking ideas that I liked.  I decided on a “blue and green” theme since I have recently introduced blue into my home.  I knew whatever I used for the table décor, I would also use in my home for my own Christmas decorating.  Here’s what I came up with…my table theme was
A Partridge in a Pear Tree

It was so much fun to put this theme together! And in usual style, all of the items were up cycled, Dollar Tree or purchased very cheaply!
Holiday Brunch-10
These sweet little “partridges” were the jumping off point for my theme.  I then used some little faux pears I had stored away and rolled them in green glitter…it’s not a pear tree without some pears!
Holiday Brunch-16
I found this darling blue pear at Home Goods..I think I spent around $6 for it, and it was the most expensive thing I bought for the table!
Holiday Brunch-12
Holiday Brunch-14
Getting photographs was a fun challenge to my developing photography skills since the lighting wasn’t ideal for photographing.  My manual setting and tripod got a workout!
Holiday Brunch-24
Holiday Brunch-22
Stay tuned as I will be sharing all of the details on how to recreate this look for your holiday table!
Christmas Brunch
It was so much fun to be among such beautiful tables!
Here are some of the other gorgeous tables on display at the Holiday Brunch
My “mom-in-love’s” beautiful table
Holiday Brunch-27
Her theme was “The Greatest Gift” She has these amazing lighted packages as her centerpiece, and used the elegant dishes my “dad-in-love” sent her from Vietnam when he was stationed there during the Vietnam War
Holiday Brunch-29
This next table was set with dishes from Poland!
Holiday Brunch-05
This sweet table listed all of the gifts of the Spirit
Holiday Brunch-04
and the precious gifts of the Wise Men to Jesus
Holiday Brunch-37
It’s always fun to see the classic colors of Christmas
Holiday Brunch-32
as well as celebrate the last remnants of the Harvest
Holiday Brunch-33
and the table next to mine also had a “bird theme”
Holiday Brunch-08
I told these gals that us, “birds of a feather had to flock together.” I just crack myself up sometimes. Winking smile
Holiday Brunch-09
There were several more lovely tables…but the best decoration of all were the women in attendance!
Holiday Brunch-50
Holiday Brunch-51
Holiday Brunch-54
Holiday Brunch-62
The food was delicious and prepared with loving hands by volunteers
Holiday Brunch-59
our guest speaker shared how hospitality was not about proper table settings and having the most beautiful home but about letting your light shine
Holiday Brunch-65
and loving others! So welcome Thanksgiving! Welcome Christmas and Hanukah! May all that is good about this holiday season fill your homes with joy and peace.  May you be reminded among the decorating, food preparation and gift giving what this season is truly about!
Family, Friends and Faith!

As always thank you for spending a moment of your day with us here…At The Picket Fence!

With my big fat love of tablescapes, wouldn’t you think I would get to go to one those festivals some time??
    I would love it.

Both your table and your MIL’s table were beautiful. I love that she used dishes her husband sent her from Vietnam.

All the tables were wonderful. I felt like I was taking a trip down Eye Candy Lane.

After a weeklong vacation, we all feel so happy to be back in our haven. As a homemaker in the truest sense of the word (the maker of a home), knowing my husband and children consider this the place where they feel the most relaxed and at peace means all of my intentions and efforts in this area are worthwhile. It’s not perfect and WE are not perfect by a long stretch. But, it’s where we feel the most free to be imperfect. And that makes it pretty wonderful! 🌱

When I started blogging, he was only 6 years old and some of you have been apart of my community here for that entire time. Now, he's 19 and there is a reason parents are told not to blink because the years truly do go faster than I ever could have imagined. He has become such an incredible young man we are so excited to see how God is going to unfold the next chapter of his life. We celebrated with parties galore (SO many open houses to attend!) and made memories we'll forever cherish. My mama heart was filled to bursting with the joy of it all! Now we're taking some time to just enjoy these warm, summer days making even more memories because, when you’re at this stage of parenting, you know all too well how much you need to grasp every opportunity to spend time together.

I hope your summer is off to a great start too dear friends! 🪴

I’ll have some new photos of house projects and life events to share with you soon but, got now, I’m just going to enjoy this gorgeous first day of summer after our ridiculously long, wet spring. ☀️
