So are you wondering what Midcentury Modern Eclectic actually is? It’s what I call my signature style!
The dictionary defines a Signature Style as, “a distinguishing style.”
Midcentury Style is defined as, “a design period of roughly two and a half decades in the middle of the 20th century, from the mid-1940s to 1970. Its uncomplicated, fresh aesthetic arose from a desire to propel postwar America into the modern era and recast design through a bold new lens.”
Modern Style is defined as, “Modern design is a style of decor that focuses on minimalism, neutral colors, clean design lines and environmentally-friendly materials.”
… and Eclectic is my permission to mix it all up!
I was so excited when my friend Carrie from, Making Lemonade invited me to be a part of her Signature Style Series!
If you are coming over from, Decor Adventures….”welcome!” I’m excited to show you my definition of Mid Century Modern Eclectic. Blue and green reign supreme in my home, with a pop of orange for a fun addition!
I love this contemporary print in my foyer with it’s crisp white frame. The bamboo in a mid-century gold and green urn is a fun touch on top of my antique spray painted blue curio cabinet, that came out of my grandmother’s home.
One of my favorite and most asked about pieces of furniture are my navy blue velvet swooped armed chairs. They really stand out agains the white fireplace.
A blue and white wide striped throw adds a graphic punch to the back of my white sofa. A chartreuse green garden stool placed under an inexpensive Ikea laptop table, sprayed gold, is a great place to set a martini!
One of my all time favorite finds is this vintage mirrored side table! It set the tone for the entire room!
Fall is just around the corner, and I’m already planning how I’m going to reflect my style in my autumn decor this year. Last year I showed my love for orange and gold by gilding stripes onto this trio of pumpkins for my Fall Home Tour. Placed in the center they added a warm touch, along with a set of comfy rattan chairs to soften the starkness of the more modern lines of the my tulip table.
One of my favorite projects was this thrift store brass lamp makeover that I transformed by painting its shade navy with gold and white stripes.
Holidays are a great time to showcase your signature style! Creating a Mid Century Modern Eclectic Christmas for my Christmas home tour, last year, really stretched my creativity in a fun way!
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into how I display my signature style in my home!
