I feel like I need to state for the record that I set this nautical themed table in less than 10 minutes. In fact, I think it was actually in about 8.5 minutes. Why am I telling you this? Well because, in my opinion, summer is synonymous with simplicity. But simplicity doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice style. (Is it just me or were there a lot of ‘s’ words in those last two sentences?)
I don’t know about you but for us, summer is the season of spur-of-the-moment get togethers and everything is just more casual. Flip flops and the smell of skin covered in sunscreen, kids running around while grown-ups linger a little bit longer over a glass of wine or a cocktail.
The very essence of this time of the year is relaxed which is why you should never have to spend too much time setting a table.
But, by keeping a few things on hand, I think that you can have the best of both worlds. A pretty table AND plenty of time left over for relaxing. I have a plastic bin filled with all of my beachy decor items and that made it so simple to pull this easy breezy look together.
Rope napkin rings picked up in the $1 section at Michael’s craft store are the perfect nod to the sea.
Seashells and a rope-y, nautical-y, beach-y looking thing I picked up a few years ago (seriously I have NO Idea what it is unless maybe it’s a doorstop. I just liked how it looked and it was only $5!) are the perfect addition to the tabletop.
A wooden sailboat that I incorporate each year into my summer decor and a few more seashells complete this nautical inspired look.
And that is truly all it takes to create a simple summer nautical tablescape.
That is truly all it SHOULD take if you ask me. Because there are so many better ways to be spending your precious summer moments. And now, I plan on heading outside and spending them the right way. Making memories with my favorite people in the world.
Now, would you like to see some more simple summer ideas? I’m joining a few of my favorite blogging friends to bring you plenty of summer inspiration that will help you to make the most of these days that seem to go by way too quickly.
