Oversized Wall Clock in the Dining Room

Have you ever seen a giant oversized glow-in-the-dark clock? No? Me either.

But my son was SOOOOOO hopeful that this was one when he saw us going to hang it in the dining room!

I’ve been looking for weeks to find just the right piece to hang on the wall above my new/old buffet. I already had mirrors on one wall and I’ve really been trying to find a balance between still having a touch of the ‘formal’ in my formal dining room but yet cozying it up a bit too.

So when I found this giant clock with a distressed white frame at HomeGoods  I knew it was just the thing!

And this week as my husband went to hang it up for me, my son came into the room and not only thought that this giant clock was WAY cool but was absolutely, positively convinced that it had to glow-in-the-dark!

I tried to explain to him how very unlikely that was but…well…have you been around many almost 12 year old boys? They tend to think that even though they’ve only been on the planet for a short time they are the resident experts on everything. 😉

Granted, it would have actually been kinda cool to have a giant glow-in-the-dark clock in our dining room, but sadly his hopes were dashed when he realized it was just the plain ol’ version.

But, even though it doesn’t glow-in-the-dark, I think it’s definitely contributing to my dining room finally starting to ‘glow’ a little bit more.

I fell in love with a mirror at HomeGoods as well but realized that it was just too small for the wall…so I bought 2 of them and hung them next to each other.

I think it just adds an extra layer of texture and I love the soft blue paint on the frames.

I think the best part is knowing that as we get older and our eyesight begins to go at least we will have one clock we won’t have to squint at!

So, what do you think? Did I make the right choice for this wall?

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend sweet friends!

What a fantastic clock and it looks wonderful in that spot! I’m sorry to say that I’m glad your son was wrong as I think having it “glow” at night might have taken away from its rustic elegant appeal. Great idea to hang 2 small mirrors on the other wall!

The clock is great! And the two mirrors. I actually have an old vintage mirror in one of my rooms. It came from a friend that moved way across the country years ago. I think of her when I pass by it.

It’s not perfect and WE are not perfect by a long stretch. But, it’s where we feel the most free to be imperfect. And that makes it pretty wonderful! 🌱

When I started blogging, he was only 6 years old and some of you have been apart of my community here for that entire time. Now, he's 19 and there is a reason parents are told not to blink because the years truly do go faster than I ever could have imagined. He has become such an incredible young man we are so excited to see how God is going to unfold the next chapter of his life. We celebrated with parties galore (SO many open houses to attend!) and made memories we'll forever cherish. My mama heart was filled to bursting with the joy of it all! Now we're taking some time to just enjoy these warm, summer days making even more memories because, when you’re at this stage of parenting, you know all too well how much you need to grasp every opportunity to spend time together.

I hope your summer is off to a great start too dear friends! 🪴
