Hey there!
Don’t mind me while I cringe…but it’s time for another installment of:
While I don’t think either one of us will ever get used to seeing ourselves in action like this (picture us watching through our fingers), we are having a lot of fun with this new series and we hope you are too!
A quick follow up tip:
Make sure to wipe down your iron well after cleaning it, to protect your delicate items from any residue from the dryer sheet.

Fun series you ladies are doing! I also have some tried-and-true tips for those two problems…
Candle wax in votives: Either 1) stick the votive in the freezer to let the wax harden – then “pop” it off or 2) turn votive upside down and run hot water over it until wax softens and it comes out easily. Any leftover residue on the glass cleans up quickly with hot soapy water – or GooGone.
Cleaning an iron: I iron A LOT of vintage linens, and I’m a little worried about the residue that the dryer sheet might leave on the soleplate. It should be cleaned off really well before ironing your item. Here’s my “how-to” ironing post: https://myplacetoyours.blogspot.com/2010/09/ironing-vintage-linens.html
You gals are so fun! Do you know what’s going to happen? You’re going to end up with a show on TV or something, and I will be able to say that I knew you when…
Love the tips. I generally freeze my votives to get the stuck ones out. I wouldn’t have thought to use the PAM.
Love your vocabulary. “Yukky gunk”. That’s my language.
Great tips! Thanks for trying them out for us. I especially needed the dryer sheet/iron tip!
You are so right Susan! I totally forgot to mention in the video that after you use the dryer sheet you should wipe it down to remove any excess “gunk”. 🙂 Thank you so much for mentioning that!
Vanessa
I love it! What a great idea for a series, I’m not sure how I missed the previous ones but I will be watching for them now! 🙂

This is an awesome series! What a great idea. Thanks for test-driving all these tips out for us! 🙂
I love this series! Can’t wait for the next episode.
AWESOME video and tips. You were so articulate in describing how it all works and not to mention BEAUTIFUL…well done, girl! Love it, keep these videos coming! xo ~Liz
Good job, Vanessa!!!
First off good series, what an awesome idea……If i may add to this helpful info……Just wanted to say thru my experience, ive found that usually the really cheap candles are the most difficult to get outta the glass, thats why ile buy nothing but WhiteBarn candles and votives from Bath and Bodyworks….They are a quality candle that just pops right out with no fuss or residue…Sometimes u really do get what ya pay for……Have a great weekend……….Bonnie
This is an awesome tip! I also spray my hands with Pam when I am working with a dough that I don’t want to add more flower too. And, while we are on the subject….Pam works really well for spraying the inside of a measuring spoon on measuring cup when you are using honey or molasses. It ALL comes out!
This is so fun. How do you come up with these things? I guess 2 heads really are better than 1! I love that you are incorporating videos too. Your blog is growing by leaps and bounds but the two of you are still the wonderful people who started it all. Bravo to you both.
You guys are too cute! I’m loving this series!! Great ideas – I especially love the idea of spraying cooking spray on the votive. Great tip!!
I’m so glad you linked this up to my party. I somehow missed this post. I love seeing you both on video. It really makes me feel like you are next door. Thanks for the great tips!
