Does anyone else feel like the month of May might actually be the busiest month of the year? I always thought it was December but I now think that Spring is more insanely crammed with activities especially if you have school-aged children. It’s like the powers that be are wanting us to be REALLY ready for summer. 😉
So, if you are feeling overwhelmed and needing a few minutes to catch your breath, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy a little bit of inspiration to start your weekend off on the right note.
Wouldn’t you agree that there isn’t much in life that can’t be tied back to Anne of Green Gables? This must be why I couldn’t make a plum puff pastry tart without thinking about Anne Shirley and her desperate longing for a dress with puffed sleeves.
Lately I’ve been having a lot of what I refer to as ‘Twilight Zone’ moments. I’m pretty sure it was just Christmas and yet here I am today sharing Easter Recipes and Table Decorating Ideas with you. How did that happen?

Good morning, and Merry Christmas from redheadcandecorate.com!
Last year, I tried something new for our annual Christmas appetizer party and I’m so excited to share it with you here today hoping maybe you will try it. Keep in mind, this is an appetizer you can use for any celebration.
We don’t usually have a large party, but we do invite our closest friends over, and everyone brings something to share. Then we all lounge around the fire in our kitchen chatting up a storm and sometimes even playing games. It’s one of my most favorite nights of the year. Good morning, it’s me, the apple picker from redheadcandecorate.com. Did you go apple picking yet this season? We went 2 weeks ago and picked 4 1/2 bushels. Here we are trying our favorite kind…Empire. They are crisp, juicy, tangy, tart, and sweet. Store bought ones are sometimes okay this time of year, but if you ever go apple picking, try them.
So…why all the fuss about apples?
Recently I’ve realized something very important about pumpkin flavored things.
People either love them or hate them. There seems to be no in-between here. And every year around this time battles are waged in the war between the pumpkin flavor lovers and the pumpkin flavor haters.
Social media is flooded with the intense opinions of both sides of this issue. Some people wildly cheering for the arrival of pumpkin spice lattes while others bemoaning the fact that they are slammed from all sides with pumpkin this and pumpkin that.
I was warned it would happen.
The other mothers, the ones with older children, would look at me wistfully with a hint of pity in their eyes. Now, looking back, I realize that I was a skeptic. Perhaps I was naive. Perhaps I was just hopeful it wouldn’t happen to me. Either way, I was wrong. Dead wrong. And now, I find myself realizing the truth.
The truth about the ‘hollow leg’ stage.
I’ve learned a few things since being married to a southern (born and raised) boy for the last 20 years. If you can shoot it, you can eat it. If you can grow it, you can eat it. If it’s good, it’s even better fried. If you can cook it, cook it even longer..for example turnip greens!
