We just wanted to add that while we are so grateful to be homemakers, we truly believe that in any season of life, whether you are a stay-at-home mom with young children or you work outside of the home.
Whether you are employed part-time, full-time or retired.
The desire to be a “maker” of a “home” is something that resonates with all of us as women!
And it can be expressed in so many different ways.
We just hope you all feel encouraged to have your homes be a refuge for yourself and your families.
And that perhaps, by creating that haven, you will be moved to extend this hospitality
beyond your front door!
And, as always, thanks so much for visiting us today at the Fence,
Nice post over at Glynnis’ blog. It is sad that being a Homemaker has such bad connotations!!! I get the blank look all the time 🙁 I would love to be entered in this wonderful giveaway–thanks!
I read your post on Glynnis’ blog. I like finding new ideas to make my home more inviting.
Enjoyed your ideas. Have not experienced the shocked response to”homemaker” yet but was not surprised by it either. Maybe domestic engineer would be more politically correct. Lol.
I read your post at Glynnis’ blog and those were some great ideas! I would love to be entered into your giveaway. Thank you and God bless:)
I’ve been over to Glynnis blog, fantastic ideas. I’m now following you both. I would love to be entered
Good Morning-
I just read about you and your give away. I believe homemakers are in a category that is very under rated. I also am in a category like that-a caregiver. I am a retired educator (32 years as an elementary teacher)and
now am a caregiver for my 98 year young father, who so appreciates
the care and support I give to him. He is still in his home, but with
lots of needs. People ask what I do in my retirement and I say I am a “caregiver” and I do not receive much response. Very, very underated
category in the eyes of the world.Your Picket Fence ideas are great. Thanks!!
Saw you on Glynnis’ blog. Glad to have found you because I’m always looking for ideas for the home. I love being at home! While I work outside of the home, it is the place I so look forward to returning to each evening!
As a homemaker with 9 children I’ve gotten all the looks! . Lol. But I wouldn’t change a thing! (; I enjoyed your ideas shared on Glynnis’s page & would love a chance to win! Thank you!
God bless you as you share your talents! Enjoyed reading your post on Glynnis’ site. Yes, homemaker has gotten lost in our world today, and not appreciated as it should. I, too, am looking for decorating ideas…thanks for sharing! God bless…Pat “T”
Thanks for your post on Glynnis’s site. Always great to gain more ideas, plus find new blog sites!
I enjoyed reading your post on GW’s blog. Love the chalkboard!
Saw your post on Glynnis’ blog. I can’t believe that “homemaker” is not a profession that your college recognizes. It is one of the most rewarding jobs available and if done to God’s glory (as all our jobs should be) is most definitely worthy of a category.
I love the giveaway…. I stopped by Glynnis Whitwer and I love the coffee station! Great idea!

I, too, love getting great deals. My hobby is garage sales and the Helping Hands Home Center in my town. I have passed the “genes” on down and my 20-year old granddaughter went shopping for her college dorm at garage sales and was heard over and over, “Grammy would be so proud of me” and “Look, we’re ‘Grammying'”!
Your story and contribution in Prov 31 was/is refreshing and inspiring. (I enjoy your blog too!). I find myself wishing that I had stayed home (when younger) to care for my children, life is too short to dwell in regret.
Today, I am caring for my elderly mother, working 2 jobs and completing my teaching credential… kinda busy, without Jesus … I don’t know where I’d be.
Thank you! Kate
Kate, I (Heather) also worked when my oldest child was a toddler…and I have regrets as well; but I, like you, am choosing to not dwell on the regret and am so thankful that God has allowed me for the last 12 years to be home with my children and to homeschool them. I have experienced both sides of the coin, working mom and stay at home mom, and can appreciate the trials and triumphs of both. What you are doing for your mom is a beautiful thing and so honoring of the Lord! Your children are watching how you care for your parent, and will model the same someday! God bless you as you shoulder that responsibility. Thank you for stopping by.
Heather
I found you through the post on Glynnis’ blog. Thank you for the thrifty ideas, which is what I really need. I don’t shop much (very little extra money for such things, but when I do it has to be the second-hand stores). I sympathize with the “homemaker” story. I have never been able to be a full-time homemaker due to financial needs, but it has always been my desire. When I was a 4.0 GPA senior in high school (1982, I wrote my senior research paper about the importance of stay-at-home moms. The teacher had a hard time with my topic choice, to say the least! She tried to talk me out of it, but at least she did permit and graded it without bias.
Good Morning, It is fun to look through your site. I followed the link from Glynnis Whitwer and apprectiate your thrifty perspective. I didn’t think it at all strange to think of honouring God with decorating; His nature refelcts order and beauty.
Great ideas! We just stripped all of the wallpaper in our kitchen and dining area and re-painted, and I am now on the quest to find expensive, yet chic, replacement decorations. Thanks for the inspiration! (I found you through Glynnis’ blog 🙂
I love to shop thrift stores and reuse. It is a great way to change my foyer with seasons as a welcome to my home.
Loved your post at Glynnis’.

Love the things from Glynnis. Thanks for sharing
Just read your guest post at Glynnis’ blog and I really enjoyed it.
Still smiling about the response Vanessa got about being a homemaker. Just recently, my husband and I had to go buy a new car because our old one just gave up on us and when the salesman asked me what I did for a living I told him I was a retired educator and now working as a domestic engineer. He said, “Oh, nice!” LOL I think he is still trying to figure out what kind of job that is and why I am working as an engineer but I had no income! LOL
Well, from one “domestic engineer” to another, I think you girls are doing a fabulous job with your homes and families. By the way, I love the coffee station.Thank you for a chance to enter the giveaway!
I just wanted to let you know that I read your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. It was great, some really beautiful ideas
Many great ideas. Thanks for sharing them. I read your post on Glynnis Whitwer.
Thank you for your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning series. I realized I had not done ANY spring decorating (inside anyway…done the gardening!) and so don’t feel my house particularly says “welcome”. Thank you for the encouragement. Bless you.
I read your post from GLynnis blog and am now following you! love the give away items
Love your ideas ! Will be adding you to my favs! Also love the post .i myself have been a stay at home mom for over 20 years and use to get some of the same treatment…from others, my husband coworkers and their wives, even family members”what do u do all day? Dont u get bored? They would ask….
I think in todays economy its just expected that both spouse work…and i dont knock anyone who does and runs her household…but i think if your blessed by being able to say home ..or even work from home…is just that a blessing…i know i was blessed and still am.Now that the girls are grown i look forward to seeing what God has in store for me as a stay at home wife….and grandma (:
I am doing the coffee station thingy. Love it. Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous prize!
Love your ideas!!! I’m getting excited to add a few special touches to my home. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks for the wonderful blog post 🙂

Thanks for sharing on Glunis’ blog! I am going to subscribe to yours now!
I read your post on Glynnis’ blog. I like your fresh simple ideas. Don’t let someone else’s perception of what a woman should be or do hinder you in what God has called you to do. He has actually called you to the most noble, most rewarding and most demanding job of all. I’ll be visiting this site again.
Saw your ideas on Glynnis’s blog that I receive. Cute ideas–love the bird’s nest ideas. Thanks for sharing.
May we as homemakers do it all for the Glory of God!!

I love to repurpose when I decorate/declutter. I recently put my sons sports stuff in an empty bushel basket that was in the basement. This saves us a lot of money on decorating and organizing!
I read your guest post on Glynnis’ blog! Great ideas!
Loved reading your post on Glynnis’s blog today! Thanks for sharing – I’m heading out to look for birds’ nests!
Thanks for the reminder to keep God even in our decorating. All too often we don’t consider Him in “the small things” when that’s where it should really start. Of course, I love the reference to thrifting, I always consider it an extra blessing when He supplies by giving us bargains (tee hee)
I read Glynnis’ blog and loved this post. After now browsing your page, I will be adding you guys to my daily reads…love the look of everything you guys do! Also, look the look of everything in this giveaway. Great job guys!
Loved reading your post this morning on Glynnis’ blog. I loved the coffee station. I love going “treasure hunting” at my local thrift stores. I have been able to decorate my home and church fellowship hall with great finds. Thanks for the inspiration to do all to the Glory of God. Blessings, Darlene
Just read your guest and loved it. Will be following you more on your blog site. Thanks for all the ideas! Have a blessed week!
Loved learning about your blog this morning. I’m so glad that Glynnis featured you.
I read Glynnis’ blog and would love to be entered in your great give-away! Thanks! Hugs, Leena
Enjoyed your post over on Glynnis’ blog this mornig. I just wandered around a thrift store in my neighborhood over the weekend and saw lots of neat things to fill some boring spots in my current decor. Love the candle holders on the dining room table. Pillars seem so much more “now” than the tapers that I’ve had there for years. The items in your giveaway would certainly give me a kick-start on some blank surfaces that are crying for attention. Thanks for the easy and inexpensive ideas.
I obviously haven’t had enough coffee, and depend on my auto-correct too much. It should, of course, say morning in that first sentence. I’m thinking that the fact it’s also Monday morning may have something to do with it as well. Hope you all have a blessed week.
I love your decorating ideas from Glynnis’ blog. I also like to use thrift store “finds” and re-purpose them, however, sometimes I don’t find a way to use the “treasures” I find and end up with “extra’s”. Any suggestions for eliminating or letting go of unused “treasures”? Karla M
I really enjoyed reading your guest post on Glynnis’ blog. I like to change my decor with the changing seasons too, and I always try to be thrifty about it. I do love the idea of a coffee/tea station in the kitchen – so sweet and welcoming! – Kris C.
Hi! I just “met” you girls through Glynnis’ blog and I have to say that I will definitely be keeping an eye on your postings from now on as well 🙂 My family just moved into our new home a few months ago, and Glynnis has helped me to remember that the cleaning and organizing required is a task that God has given me and to be taken seriously and enjoyed. I enjoyed your reminder that decorating to make the clean, organized house a home is also essential. I’d love to be entered in your giveaway for a chance to kick start a new thrifty decorating style. Thanks!
HI there girls. I read your post over at Glynnis blog. Oh my goodness, I use to be a homemaker when my kids were little. I so enjoyed it. Yall have a wonderful blog as well. Although in Arizona, spring doesn’t stay long, I think I will enjoy it while I can. Thanks for the giveaway as well.
Excited to find out about your blog. Loved seeing all your decorating tips. Will definitely check back here to see more of your creative ideas. Thanks and have a blessed day!
Hi! I just read your post on Glynnis’ daily e-mail. Thank you for doing this.
Homemaking is sort of a lost art in today’s society, but one of the most important things a woman/mother can do with eternities value in mind. Keep up the good work.
Joyce
Just was introduced to your Blog…….oh my , oh my! I love changing up seasonal decor…..on a budget! So glad I can find ideas and inspiration through your blog…… And thanks for the scripture too. It fits perfectly and encouraged my soul. !

I just read your post on Glynnis’ blog and loved it. Thank you for the wonderful ideas and I am excited to start reading your blog.
The coffee station idea on Glynnis’ blog was awesome. I don’t know why the word “Homemaker” is taboo. I have to work for insurance reasons but oh how I wish I could say I was a Homemaker!! I know it must be a true blessing. Caroline K.
Hi! I read your post on Glynnis’ blog. I would love to be a full-time homemaker, but I do the best I can on evenings and weekends! Love your decorating ideas – this is an area that I am seriously lacking in! Have a great day!
Thank you for the easy and thrifty ideas on Spring decorating. I liked the ideas of simply putting some Spring flowers in a vase and where you put the nest under the glass dome. So simple and yet beautiful.
I read about your blog from Glynnis’ post. Thanks for the beautiful ideas! It’s amazing to see God get the glory for everything we do! I would love to be the winner of the gift basket you are giving away. God bless your ministy.

Well, ladies, I’ve been “over there” and read your guest post — and now I’m returning to comment here as well. Personally, I think home making and decorating go hand-in-hand quite naturally with the spiritual journey, and I’m glad you do, too. Love your Nordstrom vs. Ross comment! I’ve always “shopped at the top” to see what it looks like … so I can recognize it here “at the bottom” … long before the word “knockoff” was common. 🙂
Thanks for the chance at your great giveaway. If I win, I plan to give away a couple of your sweet gifts to two young homemakers I know. They would love them!
Loved you sharing on Glynnis’ blog this morning. I am also a very thankful “homemaker” and hope to do it my best for God’s glory! Love your blog as well. Thanks again!
I read your post from Glynnis’ blog. Thanks for the giveaway!!!
Hi Girls – love your blog! I loved your article on Glynnis’ blog – she’s an inspiration to me with her great cleaning/organization ideas. I have to say that my true heart calling is decoorating my home and making it a place that says “home” to my family and “you are welcome here” to my friends. I have a very modest and middle-class home but receive many compliments on how cozy and warm it feels from my friends with much much expensive and elaborate homes so I feel I am accomplishing my goal, with the resources I have. You two sound like kindred spirists so I will definitely be reading your blog regularly. I would LOVE to win the gift basket – what darling items to help bring springtime inside! May God continue to bless your ministry!
Blessings,
Karen Kay

Exploring your blog from Glynnis posting – what great ideas – thanks for sharing.

loved your post. I’m a garage sale shopper so I love to find decorating things at great buys.
Just read your blog post over at Glynnis’ site. Very informative. I’m struggling to keep my home in a organized manner on top of mothering and working and being a godly wife for my husband. I would very much like to put God more as a prioity in my life especially in my house/household. I’m new to your site and I think that I will enjoy it very much. Thank you! 🙂
Hi Jennifer!! I just had to comment and let you know that I just so fully appreciate that struggle to feel like we are constantly having to keep all of the balls in the air at the same time. Daily I battle that feeling of inadequacy and not quite giving 100% to every area of my life. Maybe that is because it is just plain impossible!! But, as we look to Him to supply us with what we need when we need it, we might just find freedom to let a ball drop now and then, you know? And maybe in that process we will discover that “His grace” truly “is sufficient”. I pray that today you will hear His voice speaking truth to you about the wonderful woman you are and that the voice of doubt and lies would be silenced!
Blessings to you and thank you so much for coming by today. 🙂
Vanessa
I thoroughly enjoyed your guest post as part of Glynnis’ spring cleaning series. Thank you so much!!
Great Giveaway.. Checked out Glynnis posting also. I always enjoy new blogs. Thanks for sharing. Pam
Read your blog over at Glynnis Whitmer’s Spring cleaning site — and this is my first visit to your site.
I loved your ideas that you shared in Glynnis Whitmer’s blog for today, I am going to start following you on pinterest…my very favorite obsession! 🙂
I would LOVE to share this basket with my sister! We love to decorate and share ideas..this would be a special treat! 🙂 I will be visiting your site a lot! 🙂
I just read your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series and loved your simple, “do-able” ideas! Thank you!
I absolutely got a good chuckle over your comment about the silence at the other end of the phone when talking about being a homemaker. I was one (and enjoyed it immensely) for about 14 years before going back to work. When I would go to my husband’s get togethers for work, that is what I experienced. It was very disheartening, to say the least. I still do nt regret it at all being home with my children. And, I love to decorate my house with new ideas! I just love your pages!!! Sandy
I love hearing all of your suggestions, and i would love to win the prizes. Please enter me in your contest. Thanks ejs8741@hotmail.com
Love you ideas! I will definitely be back!
Have a happy day!

Thank you for your spring decorating ideas. I am new to your wedsite and looking forward to reading it each day.

Stopping by from Glynnis’ site…neat ideas. I desire a decor-infused home, but struggle with the how-to and creativity. Always looking for ideas that are affordable, fun, that my husband wouldn’t ‘hate’ (he insists on functionality–no decor only towels etc…)and that fit our large family.
And being a homemaker is the best job in the world…
I’m a new “homemaker” after working for 25 years. This could also be called “retirement”. Found your blog through Glynnis Whitwer’s Spring Cleaning Series and have added it to my favorites. Will also start following you on PinInerest. Now that I’m home more I see all the places in my house that need decorating help. But since I’m no longer working, I need to decorate on the “Ross” budget. Looking forward to lots of new ideas. Thanks
I read your blog post at Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. I think I will be following your blog now, I like what you do : ^)

I am a “homemaker’ first and a full time employee for a large company second. Wish I could afford to keep only my first occupation as homemaker/wife/mom:) Thanks for your post on Glynnis’ page.
Thanks to Glynnis for sending me your way! Love your blog and will be visiting regularly!

I loved your cheapo decorating ideas! Even more importantly, I am grateful for the reminder to be proud of staying home and to do everything to the glory of God. Though society does not value what we do, God does.
Oops…in order to win the gift basket you need to know who I am! Angela B 🙂
I prefer to be called a haven maker versus a home maker! I make sure that my home is a haven for all who visit and live here!
Hi Vanessa and Heather, I was so happy to see you hold onto the title homemaker, a very important role..to create a lovely and beautiful nest for all those who live there or come to visit or stay.. the home is our refuge and retreat from the world. I found your bird nests deco ideas intriguing.. I have just rearranged my mantle with some branches in a vase and added a stack of books on God and beauty along with 2 iron white birds I found at a thrift shop.. and funny thing I was thinking that I wished I had a real twigs birds nest to set there..my 2 bird houses on my deck or in use right now, bustling with baby birds and busy parents bringing in the food. I did watch with delight as they brought in all sortsof materials for their nests.. perhaps I can make my own.. did you? I look forward to reading more of your blogs as your decorating ideas seem to mesh with my spirit of bringing the seasons of nature and beauty of God into my home and reminding me of the rhythm and presence of God in all things..
peace blessings and continues creative spirit..

I didn’t know about your site until I read Glynnis Whitwer’s blog Spring Decorating Ideas. Love your ideas.
I think I’ll remember to tell my husband when he says I don’t need to keep redecorating the house, that God approves of what I am doing! Ha! I am a homemaker and have never been happier. Please enter me in this great giveaway too. It looks wonderful! Thanks so much for the opportunity.
Thank you for standing up for Homemakers. I started being a Homemaker in the early 70’s when it was very uncool…but God showed me how rewarding it was to take care of my family and home and I have never regretted it. I tried to make a home full of God’s love for my family..Love your blog and thank you for your post at Glynnis Whitwer’s blog…
I read your guest post over Glynnis Whitwer and would like to be entered in the drawing. I love your message over here as well as the look of things – I’m sure I’ll be visiting often.
I visited Glynnis’s blog and enjoyed reading your post. I have been proud to be a Homemaker for 41+ years. When I did work, I worked part time so I could still be home with our kids and do things with them at school. I liked my part time jobs, but I love my Homemaking–all 41+ years of it. I have now been full time at home for almost a year and I just love taking care and decorating our home. I can spend time with my husband and do lunch with our daughter and be available for our Grandchildren’s specials at school. It is a good-no great-and blessed life!
Greetings from WV! I really enjoyed your post at Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I love being able to show that women who stay at home are still intelligent, creative people. It’s my way of blessing my family and being a witness at the same time. (In fact, when I have to fill out a form at a dr’s office or elsewhere, I put “Jesus” in the employer section and “Wife and Mom” as the position held. 🙂
Blessings to you both!
I read your post on Glynnis’ Blog. Thank you all for the great ideas! I’m signing up for your page now 🙂 I look forward to reading more from you ladies!
Hi! I just read your guest post over as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. Thanks for doing this sweet giveaway! Vanessa, I have a question for you. I work for an alumni directory company and would just love to know if it was my company that called you. The agent’s response to you wasn’t exactly the best. :-/ For what school were you being updated? Thanks & have a terrific day!
I am new to your blog and love the simple ideas you give to low budget moms as well as moms that want to be creative but don’t have a lot of time. I hope I win!
I just read your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. Thanks for the great decorating tips! I love the flowers in a wooden planter 🙂
I read your guest post as part og Glynnis Whitwer’s Spring Cleaning Series. You both are great examples for other “Homemakers”.The highest calling we as women have is to raise up the next godly generation! I applaud you both!
I read your guest post as part of Glynnis Whiwer’s Spring Cleaning Series. This gift says spring all over! Thank you for being creative Homemakers that share the love. 🙂
Just wanted to let you know that I too am a homemaker and proud of it! I don’t think there is a better job in the whole wide world. It makes me sad when people look down on what brings me absolute joy! I love caring for my kids and my home. I am so incredibly blessed. My heavenly father has shown me my purpose, and I couldn’t be happier, more content or more satified doing anything else! Praise God for answered prayers, His amazing love, grace, peace, joy and forgiveness! Proud momma of 5 fabulous kids and happy wife of 1 wonderful hubby
I read your post over at Glynnis Whiwer’s. I would have been just as insulted as you. Being a mom is the hardest job in the world. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.
I love your ideas for putting touches of spring into my home. I would love to win the giveaway and use it to spruce up my farmhouse in preparation for hosting family for my mother-in-law’s 90th birthday celebration!
Thanks, Marilyn
Yes, homemaker is such a blessing that God has given us as wives – and I thoroughly enjoy being one!
I read your post over at Glynnis Whiwer’s. I am a full time working mom of 4 with the goal of being a full time homemaker!
Read your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. Oh to be a homemaker. At least the blessing of being able to do it 50% of the time if shared with many. Thanks for doing this posting. I love the creative idea with the rustic wooden box and the flowers. Cute and Country! ~Marsha~

read your post as part of the spring cleaning series! Great ideas ladies keep em comin!!
I read your guest post – love the coffee station idea!
I enjoyed your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. The coffee station is my favorite idea. My mom and I love going to yard and garage sales and picking up old things to turn in to new decorations. She even copied an FTD ad’s vase by buying a plain old vase and painting it green and putting daisies on the sides. A $60 FTD vase, made even better because she made it with love, for $3!
God bless you!

Love your ideas on the post at Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. They are so simple, yet would definitely brighten a home for spring. I’d love to have this cute giveaway, to give my home a little boost! Trying to de-clutter with Glynnis, so I have brain space to create these little vignettes.
Just read your post at Glynnis Whitwer blog.
Homemakers must be highly honored. They raise future geniuses and heroes!
I was reading a book called Straight Talk to Men and he pointed out how women should be valued.
While some people think homemaking is the least thing a woman can prove her value, but sending women to die for the country as soldier is a good idea?
xoxo

I just loved hearing your ideas at Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. And yes homemaking is a valid profession and should be valued.
I read your post on Glynnis’ website. I’m am so grateful b/c what a beautiful and informative blog you have! I absolutely love nature-themed decorating and you gave me excellent ideas. I also love being labeled a “homemaker!” Thank you for entering me into your generous giveaway! God bless you both.
Excited to find your blog via reading your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. Can’t wait to explore the rest of it.

I went over to Glynnis Whitwer’s blog and read your guest post. I just want to say that I am a homemaker (at the request of my sweet husband) and I am PROUD to be able to say that. I love being able to stay home and take care of the house and kids, and have meals ready for him when he gets home. I’m lucky to be with someone who has the same old-fashioned ideas as I do. 🙂
And I LOVE the coffee station idea. We are big coffee drinkers. Like…4 or 5 pots a day coffee drinkers. I mostly drink it black, but when I am feeling ‘fancy’ ….lmao..I love to use sugar cubes in a cute dish and flavors creamers and whatnot. And how impressed would company be with a cute assortment of things to choose from instead of plunking down a gallon of milk and a sugar jar? Haha! I’m definitely going to put one of these together….thanks for the great idea! 🙂
I really enjoyed your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog, and I believe every woman is a homemaker. She can either embrace it or not, but she is making a home, and it’s up to her how she makes it.
I LOVE this. Love the coffee station idea. Bookmarking your blog. So happy to be led here by your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s Spring Cleaning Series.
Thanks for sharing a new blog with me, as well as your story. If you had answered “domestic engineer”, I wonder which category she might have thrown you into!
I’d love to enter the giveaway — such beautiful things!
I am dropping in via Glynnis’s blog. I loved your comments about shopping at thrift stores for decorating items. Thrist stores and garage sales make up a large part of my home decor. I always get compliments – proving once again that you do not have to spend a lot of money to have a cozy home…one just has to be creative which is half the fun!
Laura
Thank you so much girls for posting about how to decorate to “bring glory to God.” That is still a concept I am trying to fully understand but the two of you do it beautifully in your homes. I would love to also be included in the give-away! What great prizes are included!! God bless 🙂
I was sad to hear that “homemaker” is not a recognized occupation, especially since I’ve been doing it for 30 years! Believe me, ladies, you will never regret it. Our 15 year old daughter went home to be with the Lord almost 12 years ago. When I was holding her in that hospital bed one of my first thoughts was “Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to be at home with her.” Now I have those precious memories until we are reunited in Heaven.
On a happier note, I love that burlap basket! The towels and coasters are divine. I’ll chime in with the others in saying the coffee/tea station is a great idea.
I read your post on Glynnis Whiter’s blog. Thank you for the encouragement! I am a homemaker and love that you reimphasized the importance of that. I get looks from other women at times when I tell them what I do. That’s ok though. I AM doing it to the glory of God though!!
Thanks again 🙂
What fun to read your guest post as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series AND to find another wonderful resource for edifiying one’s home! How I delight in being a homemaker even though I have a job position that takes me away from home part-time. It is such a joy to find fellow believers sharing the joys of their lives! THANK YOU!!!
Your giveaway will surely bring delight to someone’s Spring decorating!!
Delightfully touched………~Sandie

I’ve been a full Time Domestic Engineer for decades and most women I meet long to be as well…they think I am lucky and want to know how I convinced my husband. I tell them, he makes the living and I make the living worthwhile. Suzi pblapere@att.net

Thank you for sharing your ideas on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. My daughter and I were just discussing the importance of her making a home for her husband and 6 month old baby girl. Being a homemaker is one of the most rewarding things a woman can do.
I receive Glynnis Witwer’s e-mails from her blog and am so glad I had the time to come over to see your site. It’s precious! I often don’t change my home decor, just not a talent of mine, and enjoy your God-given talents. I have a bird theme, so would like to be entered for the gift. Thank you!
I read Glynnis Whitwer’s blog post and would love to be entered for the prize. My home reflects my interest in a bird theme, so the gift would fit well with it. I also prefer the type of decor ideas you have – inexpensive and simple is about all I can manage! Thanks for taking the time to help your sisters all over the world!
Loved the idea that Glynnis had for a “coffee station”…will implement in my kitchen. thanks for the giveaway
Y’all have inspired me on this lovely spring day ~ I just read your guest post on Glynnis’ blog and enjoyed checking out your blog too As a homemaker myself, I am greatful to be blessed to serve my Lord and family by creating a cozy, safe and most importantly, a Godly home. I also understand the frustration we stay at home mom’s feel from time to time when those who don’t can make comments that can leave our mouth’s having open, or us refraining from rolling out eyes. Our 28th wedding anniversary is this week, our five children range in age from 13 to 25 and my husband serves in the Air Force. I once had a new family doctor say that she felt sorry for my husband, with me having all those children and not even working to help support them…Okey dokey, I guess she missed the class on it taking the husband and wife to make the little one….also, she didn’t know our income or budget. I also have friend who works outside the home and always says “when you are bored call me” lol ~ I keep telling her if I wait until then she will likely never hear from me again. For me, it’s been a pleasure{well, most of the time}to cook, clean and manage my home and train my children to do the same. Also, one of my favorite places to get free items for decorating my home is….in my home….I just ‘shop’ in a different room and reuse items or funiture in a different way.
I read your posting every day and thoroughly enjoy it. I did check out your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I will put her blog on my bookmarks too. Would love to be the winner of your blog gifts, especially the bird towels. LOVE THEM. So Vanessa is a “domestic Goddess”? How wonderful. Nothing more rewarding. You’ll get your crown jewels in heaven.
Enjoyed post at Glynnis Whitwer’s site. Will be returning to check your blog out again and put it on my favorites! Love the items you are giving away! And I love the Homemaker title that I have never been afraid to give myself!!
I read your post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I love your ideas! Thanks for sharing them with us.

I enjoyed your post…and like your thoughts on decorating being for the glory of God!
I just found your blog after reading your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. You know what’s crazy? I always look in my Alumni magazine to see what people who graduated with the same degree as me are now doing. But, it never dawned on me that no one was ever listed as a Homemaker! It will be interesting to see if I get contacted and asked what I do, what they’ll say when I tell them I’m a homemaker!! And whether or not I’ll be included in a future issue of the magazine.
Read your post at Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I cherish the fact that I am a mother and homemaker. No matter what else I may do, I want to be known as a mother and maker of a home.
Hi! I am visiting from Glynnis Whitwer’s blog! Thank you so much for your post! We have just purchased a new home and I am very excited to decorate it and make it our cozy home! Thank you for sharing your ideas! 🙂
I loved your ideas on decorating at Glynnis sight today, and its so refreshing to see that you two sisters are carrying on the almost lost art of home making. This is truly Gods heart and desire for women of the past and of today, Thank you Cori 🙂
Another great article by the girls At The Picket Fence. To be a “Maker of our Home”, raising our children and using the gifts given to us by God, is the highest calling we can attain. Thankful for your encouraging and helpful posts!

I would have been taken aback by the reaction to “homemaker”, too. Housewife, now that’s been taboo — you’re not your house’s wife. But now that I think of it, domestic engineer was “the” term for a while; I was home, making $0, got a pre-approved gold ultima American Express offer (then their highest card), wrote what I just did above, just to mess with “pre-approved” and they sent me a no-limit card! Talk about incredulous! I didn’t even want it, it was a goof! Wonder what the reaction would have been to blogger?

I found your blog as part of the Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. Love your fun DIY ideas for springtime….and all to glorfity God! Love it. From a homemaker who is standing a little taller…thanks so you!

Thanks for posting on Glynnis’s site! I’m glad I found your site! I love the fact that you are sisters and are supporting each other (and us) through your site! 🙂
Wonderful post – great giveaway!!! I love my job, but it’s my dream to be a homemaker 🙂

I read your guest post at Glynnis Whitwer Spring Cleaning Series. I was surprised to see your idea about the bird’s nest because I just so happen to have a bird’s nest that is so cute, but I didn’t know how to display it. Thanks for the idea, and please put my name in for the give-away drawing.
Thank you for all your great ideas. I read your post on Glynnis’ blog and so enjoyed it.
I will be adding you to my reading list.
Blessings
What a beautiful post, sharing doing all “for the Glory of God”! I recently moved from a home into a condo, your idea to go thrifting came at the right time. I implemented the coffee station to the delight of our family and new friends. Thanks for introducing us to Glynnis’s blog, I will be visiting there often. Hope to win the giveaway, would look great in a new condo who’s theme is a bird theme……..
Enjoyed your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog!
Enjoyed your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog!
Just met you sisters over at Glynnis’ post. Glad to have found your site. Look forward to checking it out more!
Enjoyed the article over at Glynnis’ blog. I love that you guys want the Nordstrom’s look at Ross’s prices woohoo!
I read your guest post yesterday on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I loved it. Love simple decorating ideas that are budget friendly. I am a homemaker with 6 children and used to love to decorate. Have gotten busy and budget has shrunk substantially over the years and I kind of fell into a place where I thought decorating was either too self indulgent or just not budget friendly. I have been realizing what a difference little touches can make in making a cozy, restful, peaceful place for your family to come home to at the end of a crazy day and am realizing it is not at all an impractical thing to do but a wonderful thing that honors my family. Excited to look for ideas on your site.
Thank You, Girls/Ladies for sharing Glynnis Whitwer’s blog! I read the post and look forward to following and getting a good dose of Faith there! I particularly enjoyed the Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:31! Who knew?! Love you two and all that you share! ~ Jo
Heather and Vanessa,
I read your post on Glynnis’ Spring Cleaning Series and truly love the way you guys are embracing being homemakers and doing it for the glory of God! I know I need help in this area – to do everything for the Lord and without complaining – especially when the laundry is piled to the ceiling!
Thank you for the great decorating tips – love them, and can’t wait to come back to this blog for more great ideas.
Tabatha
I discovered a great new blog, that’s what I did! Thanks! dorene(at)pine(dot)net
I just read your post at Glynnis’ blog…I am loving that adorable chalkboard. I have thought about making my own chalkboard, but just haven’t taken that leap yet. 😉
You have a beautiful blog! Looking forward to spending more time here.
Thank you for your post over at Glynnis Whitwer’s sight. I am so thankful for any ideas to help perk up my home and to keep it picked up. The Lord moved me “out in the Boonies!’ I couldn’t believe it has been 4 years now, and I thought I handled it well, till I called the cable company and they told me whrn we started with them. I need all the inspiration I can get!!! Thanks!
Always nice to meet new friends, I read your guest post at Glynnis’s blog. Inspiring, thanks!
Though I LOVE making my house into a home,(homemaker), my friend lists her occupation as Domestic Engineer. Ha! That is so true! Would love to win your decorations today!
I read Glynnis’ blog also, so many good ideas!
I read your post on Glynnis’ site. Thanks for the inspiration to do something new! 🙂
I have been receiving P31 email devotionals for a long time. Through them I started Glynnis Whitwer’s “Clutter-free” study and now through Glynnis I’ve found you! At The Picket Fence reminded me of life with children at home. My children are all adults now (at least chronologically! Lol!) Now I have two grandchildren; Benjamin 11 months and Izabella 3 months old…Izabella is staying with us right now and we are soaking up every minute with that precious gift from God! Reading about you, Heather and Vanessa, is refreshing and encouraging. My sister and I also enjoy a very close relationship and are blessed to live in the same area. I am the oldest by almost 10 years…I’m fond of saying that she’s 12, but with 4 kids of her own it isn’t working anymore! We share a love for the Lord and together we minister to the youth and women in our church and community. We also like to hit thrift shops for home decorating and any other kind of bargain we’re able to find! We believe in living simply; growing our own food when possible and we are both avid hunters. My sister even shot a bear before her husband got one! It is a great feeling to be able to supply your own meat, veggies and fruit…recognizing them as gifts from the Lord! Thank you again for your website and sharing your life with us, your readers. Winning the “contest” would be great, but I figure I already won by finding these great sites – I had to check out Eclectically Vintage, Sweet Country Life, The Space in Between and a few other sites! There’s a whole world of blogging out there I didn’t know existed! So cool! Thanks! God bless you in your ministry!
So glad Glynnis hosted you on her blog so I could find out about you!
I loved your post that was part of Glynnis Whitwer’s Spring Cleaning Series. What resonated with me most however was the silence you got when you shared your occupation was “homemaker”. As a working Mom, I treasure SO much the far too few moments I have just to focus on being a homemaker. I am so glad to learn of your site and look forward to referencing it during some of those times. Thanks for what you do and for continuing to show the value of homemaking!
Hi — thanks for fresh decorating ideas for Spring. I’ve been enjoying Glynnis’ spring cleaning week of guest posts already! Will you share where these goodies came from, since we can’t all win the prize? I especially love the bird hand towels and the burlap candle holder.
Was reading your guest post in Glynnis’ email and remembered how my Blessing to stay at home was met with incredulous comments of “I would never be able to stay at home with my kids!” In this crazy upside down world where we are growing adults by raising our children up- i personally think the time investment is sound and needed. Anyway, am SO LOVING THE BIRD THEME! Ever since my Oma passed away, birds remind me of her and it would be awesome to win such a special prize. Thanks so much for all your tips in your article- you gave me some new ideas!
I visited Glynnis Whitwer’s blog and read your post. Thank you for hosting this giveaway.
Loved your guest post on Glynnis Whitwer’s site. Thank you for standing up for the “Homemaker” job title. I get a bit irritated with peopple who just don’t know what to do with us homemakers. lol I had a telemarketer tell me once that I must not have a brain since I didn’t work. Oh boy if she only knew. I just laughed and said God Bless you and hung up the phone. I would love to have seen her face. 🙂 I browsed around on your blog…loved it and I too will be adding it to my favorites. Thanks again sisters…. peace
I found your blog via Glynnis’ blog. What a beautiful give-away! 🙂
Great ideas on your post on Glynnis Whitwer’s site. How awesome it is to see decorating as a way to bless your home and family.

Enjoyed your guest post on Glynnis’s page yesterday!
I visited Glynnis Whitwer’s blog and read your post–thanks for the chance at a great giveaway!
Thank you for sharing your heart in Glynnis’s blog. It was a perfect read to start my morning. I have always believed Homemaker was a noble title no matter what your career was.
I found out about your blog from Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I added you to my reader! I was a stay at home mom when my kids were little, but I felt that I wasn’t “doing enough” for some dumb reason and decided to go to night school for secretarial. I worked all through my kids growing up and wish everyday that I could have a “do-over”. I do not work now and spend my days watching my grandson and granddaughter. I know I can’t go back, but I am doing my best to be there for my grandkids while my son and daughter-in-law work. I hope someday my son gets a good enough job so that my daughter-in-law can stay home and be the mom that I know she desires to be. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

Found you via Glynnis Whitwer’s blog. I also like to reuse items, especially after “browsing” in my garage and basement – the price is certainly right! Looking forward to receiving regular emails from your site.
I enjoyed your ideas on Glynnis’s blog! Please enter me in the giveaway. 🙂
Thank you for your post at Glynnis Whitwer’s site. I liked your beautiful candlesticks on a budget. I’ve been away for 10 days helping my mother de-clutter & decorate her retirement residence in another state. Re-connecting with Glynnis & finding your site today is refreshing. Please enter me in your contest. Win or lose, what fun than you are doing this!
This is my first time to be “At the Picket Fence” and what a joy it is! I’ve always loved decorating and homemaking, and I thank you very much for such great ideas. I love the way you have used something as simple as a bird’s nest in such attractive ways. The dresser transformation was fantastic too! You both are an inspiration to me.
I read your post on Glynnis Whitwer’s blog and loved the ideas. I want to make my home more inviting to guests
Love the decor ideas. I’m a thrift store, goodwill, consignment fanatic.
I’m inspired and ready for Spring spruce up.
I am so glad that I was a homemaker when my kids were younger. I wouldn’t have missed a moment of it for anything. (Although I would have liked it even better if blogging had existed!)

I enjoyed your comments and decorating ideas on Glynnis’ sight and I love, love, love the Annie Sloan paints! By the way, my maiden name is Anne Sloan and some of my best friends call me Annie!
