*I’m so excited to be sharing my new bedroom nightstands with you today!*
I have a confession to make…for more years than I care to admit, I was living with a nightstand that, for lack of a better word, was jerry-rigged.
I had purchased a nightstand for my husband’s side of the bed and wanted to use a round table on my side but the only one I could find was a few inches too short. So, I did the only sensible thing you could do in that situation.
I stuck a bunch of old yearbooks under it until it was raised up to the proper level. And, let’s face it, those yearbooks have some pretty awful class photos in them so holding up a table was pretty much all they were good for at that point. Then I put a round table skirt over it and called it good.
But, it really wasn’t good. It was wonky…and rickety…and the table skirt was always getting bumped and messed up and I realized why it’s better to do the right thing the first time instead of trying to make something work that was never really meant to be.
Enter our new nightstands!
I found these on Wayfair.com and I don’t even have to put yearbooks under them because they are perfectly matched.
I love the gold detail around the drawers and there is just something about these nightstands that reminds me of when we were in England years ago and stayed at some of the most charming Bed and Breakfast hotels.
I know that it’s not particularly ‘in’ these days to love things that are so traditional. But, I don’t care. My heartstrings are always tugged by pieces with more classic lines. They are like the little black dress of home decor.
They outlast all of the trends and are always in style.
And, thankfully, there is rarely any jerry-rigging involved!
Thank you so much for meeting me and my new nightstands at the Fence today,
I really appreciate the classic lines as well and you have space underneath for a basket! Actually right now I have a nightstand I thought was temporary but has turned into permanent, so am feeling inspired to change it at last, too. 🙂
Thank you Karen!
I love your bedroom and agree with your point of view. I appreciate trends but my heart is committed to the tried and true….. I enjoy your blog and am so happy you have achieved this look and that is speaks to you.
Thank you so much Kathy!

They are exquisite Vanessa!…..Such classic lines that would fit into most decors……I can envision you doing a happy dance when they arrived!…Have a wonderful weekend!
Vanessa,
First off you are so right about class books – yikes. Braces AND glasses. Good times. :- )
Your night-stand tables are AWESOME – I too love their classic traditional lines! I think there are a LOT of traditional and transitional (me) lovers out there and you are so right about it being forever tables. They will work with anything, any time.
Well done, and being from Wayfair I know the price was right. Well done, love them!
Your night tables turned out beautifully! I have two solid oak Provincial style ones to refinish, and I hope I can do them justice. I suppose getting started is the hard part! Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you Odessa! I’m sure yours will turn out just beautifully!
your bed linens are so pretty. Love the bedskirt too! Would love to know where you purchased them
Thank you so much Terry! I’m planning on posting about them soon but I’ll give you the scoop first. 😉 The bedskirt is from Soft Surroundings. The main blanket covering the bed is from Target and the duvet cover and shams are from Tuesday Morning.
Beautiful room and love the night stand. I think you meant to say jury rig instead of jerry rig.
