Good morning, coffee lovers! Julie here stopping by from redheadcandecorate.com where my husband and I have been working on a really large front porch project 😯 with DIY mahogany stained wood. I am very very excited for the reveal coming up soon (subscribe now so you don’t miss it), but no one can work without coffee, right? That’s why I decided it was a great time to get this coffee party started over here at the fence. I hope you enjoy these “Unique Coffee Ideas” I found through some of our talented friends from blog land, and there’s one from me, too.
“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”
Ok, ok, so maybe it’s more like the second ‘most wonderful time of the year’ since I know that honor really goes to Christmas.
But, I honestly cannot properly convey to you just how much I love Spring and, most especially, when my lilacs are finally blooming. I snip them and bring them inside and literally bury my nose in the blossoms every time I walk by. It’s like they call out to me. My only complaint is that, like Christmas, it’s over too quickly.
So, I thought that I would celebrate this fleeting moment in time by putting together a little collection for you of lovely lilac inspired ideas and inspiration.
5 Cute Christmas Ideas from redheadcandecorate.com
Good morning, friends! It’s me, Julie from redheadcandecorate.com, stopping over today to share 5 cute Christmas ideas for decorating your home this holiday season. I really enjoy decorating for Christmas the most out of all of the holidays, and sometimes I try to think “outside the box” when doing so. It’s funny, because in a lot of ways I am very traditional in my decorating style, but then I love to throw in an element of surprise to kind of catch folks off guard. I like to have fun with it, and between you and I, sometimes my kids have to settle me down when decorating and tell me it’s time for bed!
I truly hope my ideas inspire you to try something you’ve never tried before…or maybe just sit back and drink hot cocoa while I do all of the decorating. Doesn’t that sound good about now?
Hat as a Tree Topper
Happy weekend my friends!! What will you be up to? We’re celebrating my son’s 13th birthday today and I can be found curled up in a corner in the fetal position because I cannot believe that my baby boy is now officially a TEENAGER! Sniff…sniff…
Actually, even though it’s so bittersweet we are incredibly proud of the young man he is becoming and we have a BIG surprise trip planned for him. I’ll fill you in more on that another time.
But first, how about a little bit of inspiration to get you going on this Saturday morning?
Have you ever seen a recipe for something and wanted to eat it RIGHT.THAT.SECOND.? That’s how I felt when I saw these Raspberry Muffins from A Burst of Beautiful. I mean, seriously, these need to be baked at my house pronto!
Happy New Year, At the Picket Fence friends, from redheadcandecorate.com!
It’s brutally cold up here in the “mitten state” (Michigan), but I’m making the best of it by keeping busy indoors which can be nice and cozy with a hot cup of tea.
However, on the other hand, we traveled through Canada to Western New York last weekend and I captured this unique photo on the New York State Thruway, that I thought would be fun to share with you. My husband was driving and I saw the sign approaching quickly, so I grabbed my phone and got it just in the nick of time. I’ve lived up here most of my life, except for a 6 year transfer to Jacksonville, Florida. I must admit that I have never seen a neon “LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING” sign ever in my 46 years.
I’ll never forget that dress…It was gold and white lamé checked with a black velvet bodice. The perfect 1987 homecoming dress. The black velvet bow I found for my hair was the icing on the cake.
Lamé…do they even make dresses in lamé anymore…. because they should! The subtle (or not so subtle) sheen picked up the pulsating lights on the dance floor perfectly.
Moms everywhere know the truth about Mother’s Day. It’s not the perfectly arranged floral bouquet or the velvet lined box holding expensive jewelry or even the breakfast delivered in bed on a fancy tray that we hold closest to our hearts.
It’s those priceless hand-made, covered in glitter, framed by popsicle sticks, dripping in glue gifts from our children which are the truest treasures.
One morning, while upstairs putting on my makeup, I had the news on in the background and, as always, had my ears tuned to the weather segment. It was finally time for Mr. Al Roker to have his turn and he weaved his weather magic and soon I knew just what the temps would be all over the country.
But when it came time to talk about the west coast, specifically my beautiful Pacific NW, he just kind of casually waved his arm and said, “And there will be rain in the Pacific NW.” I stopped dead in my tracks…eyeliner in one hand and coffee cup in the other, unsure if I had heard correctly or if in my usual morning stupor I had misunderstood him.
Our oldest daughter celebrates her 15th birthday very close to Halloween. In fact, we brought her home from the hospital on Halloween with little pumpkin booties! Every year, we have a birthday party for her usually involving some Halloween fun. She loves to “dress up” and swears she will never stop “trick or treating”, and I think I believe her. When she was 5 painting pumpkins was the high light of the party.
It seems to me that in life, people can be divided into two categories: those who upon entering a store will head straight for the clearance section and those who don’t.
