Hello dear friends! I did NOT expect to completely skip over January and February too before we met here again but…life.
Between experiencing a bit of the January blues, the ‘rona’ hitting our house (thankfully not too hard) and a quick family vacation, time has gotten away from me. But, as the days grow longer and I see signs of spring on the horizon, I can feel my spirits beginning to lift and a renewed energy growing inside of me.
This renewed energy has translated into making a few changes in our home as well. After ten years of having the ‘chicken’ painting above our fireplace in the family room, I felt like it was time to mix things up a little bit.
I can’t get enough of mirrors and all of the light that they bring into spaces (hello, I live in Oregon!) so it only made sense to switch out the painting for something a bit more ‘reflective’.
This wood beauty with a beaded accent is nice and tall and fits the space perfectly!
It’s always amazing to me how caught up I can get in the big things that need attention in my home when a simple change like this makes such a difference. And, at this point in time, with all that is happening in the world and all that is happening in MY little world, the small changes that make big impact are very much welcomed.
In addition to finding the perfect mirror, I also finally found the perfect chair for my husband to hog to give us more seating options in the room where we spend the most time as a family.
We realized that it’s a good thing that we waited until our kids were older to get a swivel chair because this thing would be in constant motion if we had purchased it when our kids were little. They would have been spinning it like they were on the teacup ride at Disneyland!
But it’s definitely the right chair for this stage in our life. And with the addition of a couple of ottomans that are easy to pull over and use to put your legs up, it made our family room complete.
Now, lest you think that I got rid of the painting (it’s one of the most talked about pieces in our home among the comments on this blog), I found a new spot for it in our dining room and love how it softens this space above our buffet table.
I’m sure it will get moved around quite a bit over the next few years but I know that I will never be able to part with it.
With spring right around the corner and my son’s graduation from high school after that, I’m eager to tackle even more projects around the house. And, whether they be as simple as putting up a new mirror or as complicated as renovating the kids’ bathroom, I’m always thrilled that I get to bring all of you along on the journey.
Much love,
Everything looks so soft and pretty. And, I love the new mirror and, of course, the beautiful tulips.
Happy spring!
Love you,
Mom
The room is lovely and so inviting.
