I’m so excited to share my patriotic wood ruler basket with you today my friends! Can you even believe that it’s almost Memorial Day? And does anyone else feel like the month of May is trying to kill them?
Maybe that’s why when I was at The Dollar Tree this week and I spotted these red and blue rulers I immediately thought of lazy days, lingering outside until the last bits of sunlight fade away.
I’ve seen so many fun wood ruler projects around lately and these were just calling out to be used for more than just measuring.
I picked up an inexpensive metal bucket from the hardware store and set to work.
The rulers were sanded down and then I applied a coat of wood stain over them. I let them dry and then simply attached them to the bucket with hot glue.
I just love how simple this was and how many possibilities there are for it!
It looks great as a planter of course.
But I think it would be just as cute to use it as an ice bucket for Memorial Day or Fourth of July festivities.
My kiddos will be out of school soon and I can’t wait. I’m so ready for a break from racing out the door and packing lunches and signing reading slips and wanting to cry because I hate Algebra oh so much. 😉
But, just like the school year, I know that summer will go by very quickly and before I know it I’m going to be longing for our routine again and remembering why our family thrives on a schedule.
For now though, I’m looking forward to the sunny days ahead and making the most out of the precious three months we will have to do some very fun things and also a whole lotta nothing.
And I’m so thrilled to be joining my Celebrations of Home team again this month to bring you a bunch of fantastic patriotic ideas to help you get in the spirit too!
Thanks so much for joining me at the fence today,
I love this idea…so easy and festive! And I really like that it has multiple uses, too! Cute! Hugs…Debbie
Vanessa, this is exactly the kind of project that catches my eye and captures my heart this time of year. Thank God for simple, fun things!
I have to say that I love patriotic decor even more now than ever–with a son in the U.S. Navy, I’m grateful for people who are proud to be Americans. 🙂
Bless you, friend!
