You know what’s super fun? Having an entire month already jammed packed with every.activity.on.the.planet because it’s the last month of school before summer break (and heaven forbid we move some of those activities into ummm…say…APRIL) and then discovering that the only available date to have your new office flooring installed is in the last full week of the aforementioned month so you are going to have to scramble to get everything moved out of the messiest, most neglected room in your house and then you realize that in your hurry you completely forgot to take ‘before’ photos which is a total blogging no-no. Sigh.
Oh well, you guys will just have to trust me that our poor office was in a sad state. Ok?
It actually started out pretty cute. When we first moved in we painted it a sunny yellow and purchased a nice desk set and I accessorized it and, for the most part, it stayed pretty neat and tidy.
(Here’s the ONE photo I could find of it.)
But then? Well, then my husband started needing more work space at home and my kids started using the office for homework and I started using my laptop anywhere EXCEPT the office and when we had to move everything out of the room I had a wake-up call about how rarely I spent time in there because there was so.much.dust. Nothing makes you feel like a horrible housekeeper quite like emptying out a room.
But the upside is that it gave us a chance to put a fresh coat of paint on the walls and have everything ready to welcome our beautiful new Shaw floors!
These are from the Epic Plus Line and are the same floors we had installed in our kitchen, family room, living room and dining room.
I kind of wanted to just do a few twirls on them when the installation was over because I cannot believe how much they transformed the space. The whole room looks so much bigger!
But, now I need to get to work filling it all back in again and this time I’m determined to make this space much more functional for the season of life we are in.
The first step is going to be deciding how much of the old furniture I bring back into the office because that is most likely going to involve painting it all and….confession…I HATE painting furniture.
I can handle maybe one piece here and there but the thought of painting multiple pieces kind of makes me feel like I’m going to lose my mind.
For now, I’m just going to enjoy my beautiful new floors and maybe even get in a twirl or two!
Stay tuned for more office updates!
*I am working in partnership with Shaw Floors but all opinions are 100% my own*
Are those door baby blue? If so, they’re so cute. I have similar doors, and might copy that idea.
Can’t wait to see the new look of your office. I know you will rock it.
I love your new floors. We will soon be shopping for flooring so I’ve made a note to look at this one. I really do love the color. I live in Oregon, too! In the Willamette Valley between Portland and Salem. Have your book and love every word of it!
Your floors look lovely! l notice in the photos your entry is stone in between your wood flooring. Question: Why did you not put wood floor in the entry area also?
