The 2 Seasons ~ Parade of Homes Tour

We always love it when we connect with other blogging duos especially when we get to actually have the pleasure of getting to meet them in person! Janette and Jordan of The 2 Seasons blog make such a dynamic combination and they are truly so warm and personable.  It’s obvious that not only talent runs in the family but also gracious, welcoming personalities!

Today, Jordan is going to give us the tour of her GORGEOUS home and we know you will love it as much as we do!

Hi everyone! My name is Jordan, and my mother and I write a lifestyle blog together called The 2 Seasons. We came up with the concept because I live in upstate New York, and my mother lives in the south; I am somewhat of a newlywed, and she has been married for many years; she recently downsized from the suburbs to a townhome in the city, and we recently bought our first home. We are in two different but great seasons of our lives, and thus, our blog was born.

Like Heather and Vanessa, we blog together despite having a long-distance relationship. We are beyond thrilled to share my bungalow with you. Plus, we got to meet Vanessa and Heather last year at Haven, and it was a thrill. They are definitely two bloggers that we look up to.

Come on in and tour our home. I currently live in Syracuse, NY with my husband and our sweet and very energetic dog Gracie. The outside is still a work in progress, but we have come a long way since we bought it. We added a new roof, changed the paint color from white to gray, added shutters, window boxes, and new landscaping.

I love the charm and character of an old house. The glass door knobs are one of the original features, and we have them throughout the house.

We have a tiny vestibule that leads us from the front door to the living room. My mom painted and stenciled it last fall, and we were surprised by the difference it made to such a little space.

Our house was built in 1928 and is craftsman style. The living room is very open and bright for an old home. One of the things that attracted us to it was all of the windows, and the open concept design.

I had this small space and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it till I came up with the idea of hanging silver trays in assorted shapes and sizes on it. I think silver is like jewelry for a room, and this silver added just the sparkle that was needed.

The Florida room gets a ton of use in our house. This is the hang-out room where we play games and have cocktails with our friends. This room needed some help when we moved in. Here are some of the things we did to improve the space: We added new windows, added hardwood floors, made this free table into a fun game table and added the Ikea daybed.

Whoever is the bartender gets a great open view of the first floor.

My busband built the bar himself for the room.

The dining room is one of my favorites because of all the sun that comes in on those cloudy Syracuse days. Some of the projects in this room I have completed on my own and some with the help of my mom. You might want to check out how we made the dine sign, painted the curtains, framed the thermostat and came up with the pictures.

One of the first projects we did together as bloggers was to paint the hutch that we found at a local thrift store.

The kitchen is slowly getting some updates. We painted the cabinets, added a subway tile backsplash, and installed a new double oven and dishwasher.

I turned the desk area into a coffee bar, and we use it every day.

Our half bath is tucked under the stairs, but it works great! It did get a little paint update you can read about here.

The gallery wall on our stairway wall was meant to be. I enjoy looking at the photos and objects every trip up and down the steps.

This is the first time I have shown the whole master bedroom. The DIY padded headboard is popular in the blog world. We have a king sized bed and instead of getting a large piece of wood, I bought a hollow door at Home Depot for $20 and covered it with foam and fabric. The size is perfect for a king sized bed.

The cedar trunk at the end of the bed was my grandmother’s hope chest.

The dresser on the left is an Ethan Allen dresser my parents bought for me when I was a little girl. I knew I couldn’t paint it, but the handles and mirror were an easy update.

This is one of our two guest bedrooms. It is quite large for a guest room. The curtain on the right is a makeshift wall. At one point an owner removed the wall to have an area for his daughter to play. We use it as a storage area to house crafts, suitcases, the sewing machine, etc. Plus, Gracie likes to go behind the curtain to get away from everything and everyone when she needs a nap. She thinks it is her bedroom. The art above the bed was an easy modern art project I did which was fun to make.

I am crazy about the dresser in this room. I found it at a thrift store, and then did this paint job on it.

This is the second guest room. You can read about how I covered the old Ikea headboard here. My grandmother made the quilt at the end of the bed.

We only have one full bath, and it is tiny. It works for us, but storage is lacking. My husband built this shelf above the door, and it has come in so handy for storing our towels. That shelf has been really popular on Pinterest.

The laundry room is in the basement, and I did what I could to make this a pleasant space for washing the clothes. Some of the projects we did in this room were painting the walls, painting the washer and dryer, and painting a rug. Wow! It turns out a lot of painting went on down there.

This backporch has improved a lot since we have moved here. We have updated the look and even turned this changing table into a bar.

My husband built this mini mudroom when I was away on a business trip. It has come in super handy, especially this winter.

Thanks again for touring our home. It is always a work in progress, and Mom and I have enjoyed the time we have gotten to spend together while working on projects for it.
