We’ve decided that having a book published feels a lot like winning the lottery. Not that we’ve ever actually won the lottery (probably because we don’t buy tickets for it!), but we would imagine that the feelings we felt when we found out a publisher was actually offering us the opportunity to write a book wouldn’t be all that different from the feelings of a lottery winner. Lots of jumping up and down, cheering, tears and celebrating.
Now, let us be clear, this isn’t because it in any way relates to money. Because, frankly, authors aren’t raking it in quite like people might think they are. Especially those of us who are babies in the industry. But that’s not why we do what we do.
What we really mean is that, just like winning the lottery, the odds of having a book published the traditional way aren’t great. So, as God continued to open the doors for us and as we watched all of the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, we truly could not believe it was really happening. Because, you see, our desire was never just to check a box. Write a book? Check! Done and done. No, our desire was to provide what so many of you expressed a desire for over the years. A way to hold our blog in your hands. To pull it out over and over, pour over the pages, read stories that encouraged you on your faith journey and get simple ideas for your home. And more than anything, we desired to honor God.
Life in Season was released last fall and we could not be more amazed and humbled by how it has been received. Truly.
And, even if we never published another book, we would know that we had put together something that so perfectly reflected who we are, what we believe, and how we want to inspire.
But, guess what?????
We ARE publishing another book!!!!
We could not be more thrilled to announce that we are currently writing a second book and it is tentatively slated to be released in the fall of 2018. Yes, that seems like a long way off, but there is sooooooo much that goes into getting it ready for production not the least of which is the actual writing.
So, what will this book be about, you ask? Well, we don’t have an official title yet, but just imagine an entire book dedicated to the topic of peace.
Peace in Your Heart
Peace in Your Health
Peace in Your Home
Because, we all long for peace, right? But peace is something that we believe has to be invited into your life. And our prayer is that this book will provide you with encouragement, insights and tips for how to live a life filled with peace.
We are feverishly writing and amazed again and again at how the words seem to come not really from us but from the Lord. But if you happen to run into us somewhere and we have a dazed look in our eyes just know that it’s from staring at a computer screen for hours on end. 😉
Now, in honor of this exciting news, we thought it would be fun to celebrate with a giveaway!
We’re giving away two, count ’em TWO signed (by both of us!) copies of ‘Life in Season’.
Here’s how to enter to win:
Leave us a comment telling us what you are most looking forward to about our new book on the subject of Peace.
That’s it! Easy peasy right?
We truly can’t thank you all enough for being apart of this journey with you. In a million years, we never would have thought that a desire to create a little online community for women to share, care and inspire would turn into the opportunity to write even one book let alone TWO books. And none of this would be possible without all of you!
Much love to you sweet friends and, as always, thank you for meeting us here at the fence,
I just recently read that the 4 hardest words are “Thy will be done”. I know I struggle with this as I try to learn to give up control and find my Peace.
I would love to explore how the peace of God dispels fear, how to live in that place of trusting God for all things, being continually controlled by a peaceful heart!
So looking forward to reading y’all’s first book!! If I enjoy it as much as I do your blog, it will be a swift read!! I am looking forward to the second book about peace as well. I have finally found that it’s time for me…. it’s been a long time coming. I’m sure the book would help me with my journey. Keep writing!!!
As much as I strive for peace on a daily basis there are times it feels illusive. It would be nice to have a book like yours to have available at times like this. Sometimes a word, an idea, or a phrase written by someone else can turn things around on a bad day. Enjoy this creative opportunity and I look forward to the finished product.
Dear Heather and Vanessa – I bought your book even before it was published knowing all too fully well how perfect a book it would be and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! Now I would absolutely *love* to win this giveaway because I know two perfect angels who I would gift these books to.
As far as a book about peace? AWESOME. You know I will be on the waiting list for it, too.
Thank you for this most generous giveaway – so that we may always pass the generosity on to deserving angels out there who need a lift as well. Good luck in your next authoring endeavor. Can’t WAIT!
God’s blessings to you.
Congratulations, ladies! I am so VERY excited for you. Although there is much work ahead… how wonderful to eventually be able to HOLD your work in your hands! Regarding peace… it certainly is timely and there is one area that enters lots of conversations with friends and that is peace in relationships. This seems to be the enemy’s playground. So many people I know are desiring peace between friends and family and co-workers.
I’ll look forward to your new book. May God’s favor rest upon you as you seek HIS heart for the words that will fill the pages of your new edition. xo
Congratulations on your new book in the works!! So happy for you Vanessa and Heather! And what a perfect topic…… my family has had one heartache after another for the past couple of years and peace is something I pray for, and try to create in my own home and heart every single day. I imagine your new book will speak to so many! Best wishes as you work on it.
We all need peace in our busy lives. Women need guidance on how to slow down and have peace in our minds and hearts.
I would love to receive this book for my mom. She and my father have moved into assisted living, not by choice, but by health circumstances. The greatest love my mom has is decorating her home and she is having such difficulty with the fact that her home now consists of 550 square feet. She is trying so hard to adjust but her joy is gone. She and I have been praying and talking but I think your book would be something she could go to seeking her peace. I appreciate the opportunity to win it for her and for me.
Peace can only come by God and I’m so thankful that I have Him and His peace!!!
You two have been a blessing to so many people. I would love to have your book because I feel you are friends.😊
Sooo good! Congratulations!!!! And the topic of true peace — it is so needed. I feel like it’s something I have to make a choice to take hold of every single day. Seriously excited for you, and for the wisdom you are pouring out!
Blessings,
Cheryl
It’s been so exciting to watch you two grow, as people and as writers. What a fantastic subject! I can’t wait to read it!
Peace is often hard to find. But it truly is the only way to live. I look forward to your new book.
I’m looking forward to a day when this nation can be at peace. I’m so tired of us fighting over the new President of this great country. I hope our nation can come together soon and peacefully.
I’m so proud to call you my friends! I can’t wait to read the next book…..Life in season was so so good! Lisa~
What a great subjct for your new book.! I think that remembering God is sovereign & giving up the control I try to have is a path to peace. Would love to win!
Congratulations!! I’m so very happy for you. I’m most looking forward to finding peace in myself. I’m too often trying to live up to (impossible) expectations
Sounds like the perfect subject matter. Our lives are so bombarded sometimes we need extra help finding peace in all things! Looking forward to the book.
“PEACE” — what an incrediblely timely and universally needed topic…personal and for all humanity. Not only are all our hearts yearning for peace on earth in today’s world, but also I/we yearning for an inner peace…A way for our souls to live without pressures, without regrets, without letting bothersome thoughts take space in our hearts and minds. – Sounds to me like a book I NEED and would love. Thank you.
Congratulations!!! I need more peace in my sometimes chaotic home, so that’s what I’m looking forward to. 🙂
You are so blessed! Great news about the new book. Enjoy your much deserved success and here is hoping the new book is even more successful.
I have searched for peace all of my life. It seems very elusive..it comes for a moment & then it’s gone with the next hard thing. I would love to read your book!
Peace seems to be an amazing idea for a new book, especially in a world that is not always filled with it. Be it our personal lives, the larger area around us, or the world, it is something that o many of us seek, but have a difficult time finding. Thank you for taking on such an important topic!
I tend to be a worrier. The peace of Christ is needed so much in my every day. A book centered on His peace is simply perfect for women like myself who can become weighed down by worries.
Over the past few months, most of my Scripture reading has been about Peace. I believe that God is working on me in this area of my life and heart. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your giveaway!
So happy for you guys….I love your book Life In seasons, so this will be fantastic I am certain! Yes we are all looking for peace, and ways to achieve it…..since your last book gave me so many positive feeling, what I am looking forward to in this one is once again hearing your words of wisdom and faith in getting peaceful within ourselves! Excited girls!!!!!!
In a social world that seems so bent on highlighting the upheaval and evil in the world it is so wonderful to know that there are still voices showing how to find peace in an unsettling time. I love forward to your new book sweet Friends.
I love your first book but eagerly await your second book. You girls are amazing and I was drawn to your blog because I am a follower of Jesus. I am looking forward to your writing on Peace within your heart. Isn’t that what we all strive for in the crazy world we live in? You girls are inspiring to all you read your blog.
I think a book on peace is exactly what the doctor ordered in this time of so much anxiety. So excited for you gals! ❤
In this hectic world, it is difficult to experience moments of peace. Yet it is in the quietness peaceful moments that we can hear that still voice of God calling us to a life of trust and peace. Looking forward to your new book!
I am looking forward to both the message and the photography in your new book. Congratulations.
My favorite quote when I struggle is “This too, shall pass”.
Isn’t funny when you ask for peace comments we automatically defer to stuggle?
After all, when overcoming struggle one acquires peace!
I think coping mechanisms resulting in peace is what I yearn for.
I can’t wait to see what u have to share w us. I love your emails and know you will have amazing words for us to read. I have 2 graduates and a wedding in may and June this year. I definately need peace which I know only comes from God ! Looking forward to what u have to share w us 💞🙏
So happy for you both and that your new book will be about having peace in our lives. It seems so elusive at times but is a gift from the Lord. John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” Love you, Mom
Congratulations on the book! How awesome is that! This year’s goal for me is finding my inner peace in my heart, my home and then trying to pass this inner peace to others! This is a perfect post showing how the universe is answering my desire for inner peace…..it guided me here! Thank you.
As I get older I realize the importance of peace in all areas of my life. I’m looking forward to reading your book.
I’m looking forward to another book with a nice mix of devotional type encouragement, home decor, cooking and crafts-what a nice mix and I love the topic of peace-we all can use that!
I recall several of your posts about peace, and they are among my favorite. Especially the one detailing the peacemakers and peace breakers, really gave me something to think about for a long time. Your new book will be amazing.
Pat
I bought 5 of your books. One for each of my college roommates and one for me! We all love!!
My girlfriend and I have some questions for you about blogging together long distance. Is there a better place to contact you about that ? I love your blog! We are just getting ready to go live!
Thank you both for such a generous giveaway…your first book was so pretty. I would love to have one. We all need the peace that comes from our Lord in these times. I know you will handle that topic well because of your walk with God. I do enjoy your posts on your faith and family.

“Let there be Peace on Earth….and let it begin with me”
There is so much to that statement that would definitely help everyone today.
Congratulations on your upcoming book. I have your current book and LOVE it!!!! Can’t wait for the new book.
Congratulations on another book! I’d love to hear about having peace when you feel there’s been an injustice done.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Congratulations on your upcoming book.
Would love to win a copy of your first book.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you ladies!!! Not surprised though. You all have such talent and a heart in your posts that isn’t found just anywhere!!!
I love this book. I even bought one for my niece who had some struggles. Its a great gift. So excited for the new book. Congrats
I look forward to connecting on a soul-level with the way I have experienced God’s peace but haven’t put it into my own words. It’s one of my very favorite things when I read someone’s heartfelt experience and it resonates deeply with the way I feel.
I am trying hard to allow God to have every piece of my life. Having peace has always been a struggle because I like to carry to weight of my burdens and not give them over to the one who can give me peace. I don’t think I’m alone. So I think you will help a lot of people with this book. Congratulations!!
Congratulations on your new book!! How exciting! I love the topic you’ve selected….. I am looking forward to seeing how God is going to use you to convey the importance of peace in our lives. Sometimes that’s a hard one for women and I believe He is going to bless you with words that will challenge, uplift and encourage!
The topic for your new book makes me look forward to reflecting on different applications of His peace in my life.
I know so many people who have not found peace in their lives for one reason or another. I think for starters, finding God and holding him close in your heart will help develop peace. I know it comes in many forms and I think this book will be a start in the right direction. I hope I get the chance to read it, as I too fight my own demons. It’s been hard for me to find peace with the passing of my mom. She and I were both young when she went home to the Lord. Maybe it will help me find the peace I’ve been praying for.
