I think everyone has a touch of the rebel in them, don’t you? Of course, this comes in varying degrees.
I’ve always been a bit of a rule-follower with the occasional rebellious act thrown in here and there. But then, what’s rebellious to one person is totally tame to another, right? For example, I feel particularly naughty when I walk past stuff sitting on the stairs and don’t even bother to pick them up. Shocking, right?! 😉
Or when I leave my pj’s in a pile on the floor in the closet ALL.DAY.LONG. Totally wild and crazy, huh?
So, as you can imagine, when it comes to fall decorating I always feel just a tad bit rebellious when I decorate my house before it’s even officially fall. But since yesterday was the ‘Autumnal Equinox’, I can now breath a sigh of relief that I’m finally legit and no longer a rebel decorator.
And even though I threw caution to the wind and gave you the entire tour of my home decorated for the new season, I didn’t share much of my entry. It wasn’t intentional. I just honestly forgot!
Which is crazy because I have a new-old piece that I’ve been dying to show off.
As soon as I spotted this dresser at a second-hand store I knew it was perfect for this space. I’ve tried many different pieces here over the years but none of them were right.
When we rolled (it’s on casters!) this in and took a step back to check it out, it was like the heavens parted and the angels sang.
It’s old, a little bit chippy and absolutely perfect.
I wanted my new-old piece to be the belle of the fall ball so I accessorized her simply.
Now, don’t get me wrong, leaving my pj’s on the closet floor and stuff piled on the stairs aren’t the MOST rebellious things I’ve ever done.
I know you’re wondering just what IS, right? Those stories will have to wait for another time!
I think that when it comes to decorating prior to the official start of a new season, being a rebel is definitely the way to go.
Because, yesterday as the temperature dropped and the rain came down, I was snuggled in to my home which was all ready to welcome the new season with open arms.
It’s a gorgeous piece! I love the color and patina of the finish. It’s perfect for your space.
Oh, Vanessa,it is a beauty, for sure! Your photos are just beautiful…I wish that I could perfect mine!

Love your new old piece! It’s so perfect for your entryway! 😉
A ‘rebel decorator.’ I like it! Beautiful dresser 🙂
That’s a great looking piece, Vanessa! It does look great there. I had a chest in the front entry of our old house and one drawer held gloves, hats, mittens, scarves. It was very convenient, especially when my kids were still at home and in school since they used the front door to go in and out. And who couldn’t use a little more storage.
lets just hope you put your jammies back on! Happy Fall!
This is lovely, neutral perfection. Happy Fall!
Gorgeous new piece, looks perfect there. Well done.
