Today I’m so excited to share some fun table setting ideas using one pattern AND we are giving you a chance to win one of these beautiful sets of dishes from Mikasa!
This weekend I realized the full extent of my blogging-itis when my husband came home and saw this…
and said, “I’m assuming this isn’t set up for us.” He was right but it got me thinking about how often I set up pretty table settings, do my photo shoot and forget to enjoy them with the family! It was a reminder that our pretty dishes should be used and used frequently!
When we moved, I made a decision to start fresh with much of my home decor! I was ready for a change, and that change included my dishes. I LOVE color and have always gravitated towards fun and interesting place settings BUT then I would find that they didn’t always match with the table decor I wanted to use OR, my taste would change and I felt “stuck” with what I had.
I was so excited when I discovered Mikasa’sSutton White pattern! I was ready to have my main set of dishes a nice crisp neutral white and then have fun with other pieces like their Daylight pattern.
I love the texture of the subtle pattern around the edge of the Sutton White design. It adds depth and deminsion when paired with other pieces. When setting a causal table I love to add something fun and unexpected like these orange rattan place mats!
I also like to use pieces from my collections in unusual ways like placing these small succulents in the Daylight rice bowls for a fun centerpiece.
Even if it’s a “family dinner” it can be fun to use your nice flatware and stemware. Serve wine for the adults and a fun sparkling beverage for the kids!
I love that my Cocoa Blossom flatware and Alexandra stemware can be both casual or sophisticated depending on what you pair with them! In fact, it’s easy to transition my new Mikasa dishes, flatware and stemware (which can be purchased at Macys!) right into the dining room…
Placed on gold chargers, topped with a dainty set of patterned salad plates all resting on blue and white dishtowels, my Mikasa place settings take on a more formal air!
Seeing this makes me so excited to host my first dinner party in my new house…I wish each of you could join me!
But, I CAN give you a chance to own a set of either Sutton White or Daylight dishes yourself….
We are giving THREE people a complete setting for four of one of these lovely patterns!
And, we’re giving you four chances to win, here’s all you have to do to enter…

Great dishes. They are so fresh looking.
I love the green and orange mixed together! I, too, have white dishes as my main set, and I love to mix and match. The succulents are a great idea also. I may have to steal that one! Thanks for sharing!
I love the Daylight pattern. The green is so fresh and goes perfectly with my green accessories in my condo. I could use it all through the year!
Love them both but Sutton Place has stolen my heart. Your table scape is magnificent!
Both are lovely but probably Sutton Place!
Oh my I am so ready to ditch my old set of yellow and blue dishes! I would love the Sutton Place setting for my collection.
The succulents for a centerpiece are beautiful! Love the crisp green of them.

Ashley @ 3littlegreenwoods
They are both lovely, I can’t choose. Thank you!
I love the Daylight pattern. These would look great in my new kitchen. Thanks for the wonderful ideas!!
I like the Sutton Place because of the simple yet elegant design
I love both patterns, however I would probably pick the white because my 20yr old white dishes from when I got married are all chipped or they broke.
What gorgeous table settings!!!…Had to laugh about what your hubby said…Both patterns of the Mikasa are beautiful and you have enhanced them by creating those beautiful tablescapes…I love the Daylight pattern…if I won, I think my daughter in law would probably want to sneak those dishes out of my house…as they are just the type of pattern she loves…Beautiful china and great giveaway!!
Love you dishes!
Lovely giveaway, gorgeous dishes!
WOW. Your tablescapes – and photography- are/is amazing.

Congrats to those lucky winners on your list, too.
Beautiful dishes. I love Sutton Place.
Love the Daylight dishes! They would look great in my new sunroom/screened in porch in the house we are building near Charleston!!
I would love to win the Sutton White. It would go so well with all of my dishes. I have a set of Rosepoint that I bought at an estate sale for $15 and I love it! Beautiful place settings in this post! I’m warming up to color thanks to my daughters’ new apartments!
What a lovely giveaway!! I love the Daylight pattern! It would be so fun to add to my white set!~~Angela
I too have always purchased white for my every day dishes so they will match everything else on my table such as the place mats, stemware, table runner etc..but using Mother Natures’ colors like the pretty greens in the Mikasa’s Daylight Pattern, is a wonderful idea. To me, green is most often a neutral color pallet because we find it in our plants and flower arraignments. Thanks, Heather, for the great idea!!
Love the white dishes! Want to win!
I would pick the Sutton White dishes because you can dress it up or keep it casual. Love the new decor and the giveaway!
Your table settings are so pretty ! It would be fun to sit at a table set with either of the sets. Every dish I own is white. I need to venture out a little.
Would love to win! My daughter is getting married this week and could not afford china. What a great surprise.

The Sutton White is gorgeous.
It blends as everyday and it can be perfectly suited for a elegant evening dinner too.
I would choose the Mikasa Dinnerware, Daylight Collection. I really like the style of dishes a lot better.
Dishes! I would have soo many patterns if I had the room to store them! The set of white Sutton Mikasa would go great with the colorful blues and greens that I already own.
I love the Sutton white! I agree with you about adding color. I like to add color to my table settings and I like to change them often. With a white base you can let your imagination flow and add color with the accessories. Thanks for sharing this, I love your blog!
Beautiful place settings…love the green on white of the Daylight collection…so fresh!
Both settings are beautiful!
Beautiful place settings Heather! Love the look!
Beautiful place settings. I love the DayLight pattern because of the bright green in the pattern. It is fresh looking and would look good paired with yellow or blue also. Endless possibilities.
Sutton White! It will go with everything — from casual to formal.
I adore the daylight pattern! It looks freshly painted and bright.
I would love the Sutton White dishes. They would work well with my other dishes.

I love the Daylight pattern but they are all so pretty!!
If I had to pick a favorite, the slight edge would go to Sutton White! Fantastic giveaway! Hope I’m lucky!
Oh good grief. I clicked that I commented before I commented. I think I lose points for being a liar.
I really do love that white pattern, though, so I’m quickly commenting and telling you so.
Now, to see if I can get another chance.
I like them both. Decisions decisions… probably would go with the white/blue one only because it would go with my other dishes. 🙂
Would love the Sutton White. It could be mixed with other patterned dishes. You dress it up for formal dinners or dress it down for everyday use.
Although both settings are beautiful, I love that the earthy green and white settings will look great during all four seasons. It’s fun and sophisticated at the same time!
I would Choose the Sutton White Set. The raised pattern on them is beautiful and I love that is gives them a more formal look!!
Thank you for offering such a lovely and generous giveaway. I would choose Sutton White. The design is simple, classic, and would look beautiful paired with my vintage dinnerware.
I want this whole table setting!!! I love all the color choices and those wine glasses are feminine and spectacular! I’ll be heading over for a girl’s night soon. 🙂
Anna
Your setting is beautiful. I like both sets of dishes but I would have to go with the white. I just got married and am starting my dishes collection so the white would be a better choice.
I love the orange and green together w/the lovely sutton white!!
I love the white! My kitchen has freshly painted white cabinets and white wainscoting (thanks to your Kitchen Makeover series last year!!) and I’ve been able to bring in accent colors like blues, gold and reds that I love!
After about 30 years with my old dishes I bought a set of plain white and picked up textured plates to use with them. Since i have a choice of three different white plates I would have to choose the Daylight. I have nothing with these colors to mix with what I already have. Love that you showed the dishes used with different tablescapes.
I have been searching for the right dish set for a long time! I love the sutton white! It would be so fun to mix and match it with different pops of color!
I would choose the Mikasa Sutton White Dishes. I have always loved white settings and would love to have them to add to my collection! Beautiful tablescapes!
Got quite a bit of inspiration from this post regarding what dishes I should buy when I become a “big-kid” and purchase my first set! I love the green and white, it’s so refreshing and fun.

Such a pretty tablescape. I love succulents they are pretty much the only plant I cant kill! Very hardy, might think of using them on my next table setting as well 🙂
